Ok here goes, I just took in a male from a couple who lost their house and are livin in a campground. He is VERY dog aggressive, VERY people loving, housebroken, just a great dog. He is 1 1/2 years old. Here's my dilemma, I have 7 other dogs on my yard and 1 in the house, they are ALL very dog aggressive. I put SASHA(my house pup) out on her chain she uses when i'm at work last night so I could keep the new dog in the house to get to know him, (HitMan). This morning I took him out back on the yard to let him meet his new family and ALL my dogs went nuts! I had him on a leash and went to every dog to introduce them and a fight would have happened if I had let it with every dog. My question is : Do ya'll think it's safe to put him on his own chain spot on the yard? My other dogs tolerate each other as long as they are seperate. I have ordered him a coller from Shane at Stillwater as he had this chain collar on when I got him (as seen in his pictures in my gallery). I took the chain collar off and put one of Shanes collars on him that was an extra. I don't know if the dogs will kill themselves trying to get at him or not. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Well, all that sounds very normal.Anytime I introduce a new dog to the yard all the rest go nuts, especially a new male.

I agree. Anytime you introduce a new dog to the "pack" they will react. Even a yard of separated chained dogs have settled into their own type of pack as they are used to the sight, sound, and smell of each other. Doesn't mean they'll play well together but they are used to each others presence. :)

As long as your set-ups are in good shape it shouldn't be a problem. It might be an idea to give all your connections and whatnot a thorough going over before you set him up as your other dogs will give them an extra workout until they get used to having the new dog there.

I don't think that will happen though it might be somewhat unsettled for a bit. After they get over the initial excitement about the new tenant they will settle down. I don't know how your yard is set up but it might be an idea to place him the farthest from your other males as possible. Maybe closer to your youngest female.

It may be noisy for a bit, and you'll want to keep an eye on your yard for a while to monitor whats happening but after the peak of excitement it should all settle down. These dogs are pretty smart and tend to realize that they can't go any farther than what their spot allows, and after their "20 minute workout" energy blast they may all just lay down and sleep to recover. LOL.

If you are really worried, place him outside when you have lots of spare time to watch and when you can have someone there to help you just in case. It will help you knowing that you have help in any "worst case scenario". Keep your breaking sticks ready (they will most likely not be needed but it feels better and is common sense to have them there ;) ) and make a pot of tea (or whatever you prefer) set up a lawn chair and settle in for a bit.

Then, RELAX. No need to stress out over something that has not happened and most likely won't happen. Just be prepared and go from there.

put him on a spot in the yard next to one that doenst react as much to him. i dont know your yard set-up but if you dont have shade for your dogs i would put the new dog somewhere the others cant see him you dont want any heat strokes. they may settle down after a while i dont think there is a need to introduce the dog to the others. good luck
