Shelter forced to euthanize 85 percent

A trip to the Morristown–Hamblen Humane Society for most dogs and cats is a death sentence.
Now read this part! I grew up in this town, work in this town, pay my taxes in this town!!!
In Jefferson County there is a spay and neuter mobile unit that travels through the county.

"It’s not used enough," Bowen said.

Jefferson County offers a rehabilitation program for aggressive dogs.

Pit bulls are not included in the program nor are they adopted. Bowen said it has been a policy in Jefferson County for several years.

"It is an aggressive breed," she said.

Stray pit bulls are kept for about five to seven days. If the owner does not claim the dog, it is put down.

Is this the whole artical? Or did you edit the hell out of this?

If that shelter euthinizes 85% of its incoming? I have to say that IMO they are on the right track!

Why should that shelter hold onto these animals that no one clearly wants? ....that is the rightful owner mind ya. Shelter life is no life for any animal. Not to mention the desiese and filth that most these aniamls are livin in while in the care of a shelter.

The HSUS in my area will knowingly adopt sick animals. Infact most coming out of the HSUS in my area are parvo/distemper positive. As sick as thier system is.....if they were to be investigated they would not be disciplined for the condition that these animals are living in.

It would turn into a fundraiser...

Yes I did copy & paste & left alot of the article out that was not relevant to pitbulls. I'm sorry, what I was meaning to point out was their opinion of our breed & the assumption that all pitbulls are agressive and dangerous. Sorry about that.
