well not my dog shes on lock down half the time thats why no dog can get in or out, and shes all ways kicking it with me, every where i go shes with me, shit this dog eats out of my plate, I make carne asada just for the two of us. By the way every thing in nature happens for a reason. What is a good age to get the ears cut?

Yeah, but dogs aren't created by nature, they are human creations. And a dog with no ped, and no outstanding accomplishments is NOT breeding qauality. Tens if not hundreds of thousands of Pitbulls get put down in shelters every year because of a lack of good homes for the number of (human created) animals out there.

Lol, oh yeah dogs were made by men if that true make me one out of scratch, we trained them thats about it. What gave us the right to say what an animal what he / she is, what gave us the right to say its worthy or not? Nothing, we dont have the right! breeding quality means nothing , lets say you had a dog no bad trates , it was just not a champian, u love this dog and was getting old what u do? Let it die with no respect, or give it the honor of leaving a couple of kids that reminds you the love of friend ship you had?

Even if you breed the pups will never be the same as their sire or dam. Breeding a unproven dog is just being shelfish. Dogs are not humans and it is not right to breed for your own benefit. You should only breed to better the breed. And breeding a unproven dog is not bettering the breed. It is hurting it.

Are you really too slow to understand the difference between a WILD animal and a domesticated animal? Humans have controled the breeding of DOMESTIC dogs for at least 10,000 some odd years. Thats how breeds of dogs are produced.

You keep talking (typing) out of both sides of your mouth. On one hand you claim you keep your dog restricted on the other you claim "let nature take its course". The problem with letting nature take its course is that you are talking about an animal that is dependent on humans to meet all their needs. If their aren't enough homes for the pups (and there won't be, too many mutts already) then it will be up to other people to clean up the mess YOU created. And that ends up causing problems for all of us down the line. So please take steps NOT to create more problems (unwanted, substandard dogs).

If a dog only had a "couple of kids" and you wanted to keep them all, fine. But if you're going to sell or give away the puppies, then that affects the rest of us. Especially when those pups start having litters of their own, and so on. Seriously, I know there is no shortage of Pit Bulls anywhere. Are you in California? Did you know they recently made it legal for cities to regulate dog breeding by breed, and that places have been passing laws requiring permits to breed Pit Bulls? And also that CA has some of the highest percentages of Pit Bulls dying in shelters? (I think in some shelters, these guys account for 40-50%.) Something to keep in mind. Its not about impeding the dog's "rights," its about protecting the breed.

Hmmm.... "let nature take it's course"....well, my money is on the fact that either a) your dog is running loose, bites a kid, makes headlines all across the US, helps to enact more breed bans, then is killed or b) it dies of heartworms first. Either way, what a way to go. But hey, that's nature.

Actually, I just got done reading yet another book on canine history/biology, and it's closer to 60,000 years. Sorry, just wanted to introduce some intellectual talk into this thread.......there's one moron sucking the intelligence out of anything everyone else is saying.

I've seen figures of up to 100,000 years, but I figured I'd understate the case, 60,000 or 50,000 seems closer to the real figure to me as well but I thought I'd avoid overstating my case.

about the condtioning : do u do sprints up hill or just do sprints? just take your dog with u. Im getting my harness tomorrow ,so ima* just started weight pulling in about a week. i also have my dog do 20-30 2 1/2 foot jumps every day. well muscle growth is 85 or 95% genetic i might be wrong i can"t remeber. i also play tug of war with him every night too. my dog is in a large back yard, running around and jumping on off the deck; bounce off the fence from 8am to 9pm.(then comes in at night but he also comes in around 3pm for a little but he loves to go outside) on sat i walk him 8 miles. i hope it helps.

I have read all the replys and agree with most But you can still get her ears cut NOT that I would but you could now be for we get into an debate over this The only PIT bull vet around me is a very good friend of mine and has tought me alot over the years and now I cut my own dogs ears (not often) but he will and has cut dogs up to 12 months. With no bad affects. I see no reason to cut your dogs ears they look good. And her teeth are still very new ,chill on the flirt pole if you use it, very easy .. YIS J

Cutting a dogs ears has no good reason. Its only to give the dog a mean look. About exerice give your dog his daily handwalk for about a hour or more. Play some tug o war with him or springpole him or whatever. After a couple of weeks daily exercise you will see that your dog is looking and feeling better.
    Good luck with your dog.
