In the end, if you did happen to find a "good staffy" with a solid/proven past I still dont think much would come of it...There is a reason why dogmen on that side the pond use APBTs over anything else.

Listen...If you want whats different, rare, (oh lets just say it) novelty then go ahead and find that needle in the hay. There is a school of thought that say the so called "game staffys" you read about in sdj and others were really APBTs,or that they were staffys that were later bred to apbts. Its been done time and time again but never stuck. I say go with what works...but hey thats me

I'm no dogman (boy in training)...Just a fan throwing his opinion to the ring:)

Sorry for my spelling...pulled an all nighter

Because, short and sweet, from taking the crosses and breeding the offspring specifically, the breed of APBT was created. Now, after more than 100 years of breeding these dogs to each other, if you introduced the stf bull, you would be down breeding, instead of upbreeding the dog.

It was not the terrier, nor the bulldog specifically that produced our great dogs, but a mixing of the two bloods, and that mixing took several generations to get what we have today.

Heck even them little half breed toy dogs have to be bred for 5 generations before they are really considered new breed.

If you want to improve the breed, find the bloodline you like, and be very honest with yourself, and start with good prospects, breed light, cull hard!!

    -On a side note-
It is possible to breed a SBT to an APBT, or any other dog, but it is IMPOSSIBLE for a man to breed with a monkey!! In evolution, what something evolves from, is no longer in existence. Hence, if we evolved from monkeys, why are they still here? Man was created by God! (of cource if you believe that you evolved from monkeys, go ahead, I'd just like to take pictures of you family reunion!LOL JK)

Just to play "devil's advocate " here, lol........if what something evolves from disappears, why do we still have wolves?? We were created by God, just as everything else here was. That doesn't mean we didn't evolve from monkeys.......God created the laws of evolution and physics and everything else, why would he not work within those laws? Think about it......

folks I keep staffords or english staffords as some of you would call them yes this type of cross has been carried out in the UK .
Finding a good stafford to hold his own is like finding hens teeth no matter what anybody says in this part of the world there are no lines of stafford who have been gamebred from the origional pitdogs there have been to many breaks in between breeders who have tried
There is only one gamebred dog and thats a proper bred APBT

You said that blue pits are the result of different crossings just curious what those are. I think they are a fad they are good looking (but ,then I find all apbt's beautifull) but why do so many knowledgable pit people look down on blue pits?

Tex cant answer you, but I will try for him.

He was more than likely refering to the "bluffs"(the dogs that are blue and weigh 100 plus). It is highly believed that those are mixes, but I have heard from his mouth that he knew that there were real APBT that are blue, but they were within confirmation, meaning a male should not weigh more than 60# I believe. and he prefered them around the 40# range, as do I.

I for one actually have two dogs I got for test purposes. One is a blue Gotti bitch, the other is a Gotti/RE bitch. Both are within confirmation, both I like. I have never laid my eyes upon a 100# bulldog, and would have to say that a dog wieghing that much or more cant be fullblooded. I have met some who admitted that their 100 plus animals were mixed w/neomastif, locally(never saw the animal). I do believe allot of those animals on the net have had their photos altered(as my mind cannot believe that some of them dogs look like that in real life, they look like freaks to me, and nothing like the two projects I have here).

Yes, an APBT can be blue. NO, most of them nowadays are not fullblooded.

BTW, most folks here believe even if the lineage was pure blooded, if they were bred for color, they are not APBT, but AM Staffs. I for one, have seen fine working Am Staffs, so my opinion is alittle different than most.
