THE OC star RACHEL BILSON has a morbid fear of beagles after one of the dogs tried to rip her face off when she was a child. The actress, 24, has a scar on her upper lip to remind her of her encounter with the savage mutt when she was just three. She says, "I hate them (beagles) and I'm not afraid to say the word 'hate'." But Bilson isn't afraid of all dogs - her constant companion is a pit-bull terrier, which was a gift from her boyfriend and The OC co-star ADAM BRODY. She admits the canine birthday gift was a real test for her because she feared she would be terrified of her new pet. She adds, "Last year (05) Adam showed up with this big pit bull and said, 'Happy birthday! Here's your dog! Her name is PENNY!' "I was, like, 'Let me get this straight. You picked out my dog. It's a pit bull.'" The actress quickly warmed to her new companion, which she renamed PENNY LANE.

Too funny! I'm sure she and Penny will become best friends on no time. I remember when I was a kid I wanted a beagle ( I loved Snoopy), and my mom's exact words were, "Not even if Hell froze over would I get one of those b*****ds, those little sh*it are MEAN!" LMAO I guess she was right!

 

Don't be too hard on the Beagle. They used to be a really even tempered breed until they became popular. I think Snoopy might have been part of the cause. Whenever a purebred dog becomes famous, it comes in demand and indescriminate breeders take advantage of the fad to make an extra buck. The same happened to Dalmations after 101 Dalmations. Now it can be hard to find a Dali with any sort of quality. Don't think it stops at dogs. After Shrek came out, there was a huge number of donkeys abandoned at shelters. I'm just hoping that Disney leaves the pit bull alone.

This post made good conversation over the wood pile this morning. I hate beagles. I have yet to run into a beagle I like.

If you lived within two miles of my grandmother and had a doggie door, you could expect her beagle, Snoopy. to invite himself in to raid your kitchen or pantry.

 

I can't believe how dumb people are. Who the heck would think of getting a donkey just because of ShreK? Good LORD! Why are they so many dumbasses out there these days? I was just a kid when I wanted "a Snoopy". Even if my mom liked Beagles, she still would have had enough sense not to get me a dog just because I saw one on TV. What is WITH people? I vaguely remember a Cappuchin craze after Ross had one on Friends. May there never be another pitbull on TV again.
