Since I own some of the purest Hemphill dogs I'll be more than honest. Temperment wise alot of the old pure Hemphill dogs had nasty temperments. Geronimo almost killed Jake Wilder when he went to feed him. Maud would have loved to get her teeth on any human as well as her sister Scarlet Lady. Matter of fact the former owner of Maud has a pic of Scarlet Lady trying to bite him through a fence. Stratton has written a story about Bad Red the last Lightner/Hemphill/Wallace dog which Wallace owned tried to go through the window of Richard Stratton's station wagon to get to the owner of Going Light Barney.

The former owner of Maud cleaned up the gene pool and the only reason why Maud and Scarlet Lady saw the light of day was because they were gamer than they were nasty and trust me that's saying something. Environment played an important part also in cleaning the gene pool of man biters. Socialized early and as pups as adults the dogs never had problems.

I haven't had any problems and all the dogs I have produced have been the favorites on the yards they are on. I wouldn't say the dogs are needy but I don't thing they would do well on a 100+ dog yard. They are attention hounds who want to please and love affection. They will please their owner to no end and most are very energetic.

Size wise the heavier Hemphill dogs are small to medium weight wise. Females average 30 to 50 on the chain and males average 35 to 60 on the chain. Personally I haven't produced a female over 48 on the chain and no male over 60 on the chain.

Alot of people think they have Hemphill dogs because that is the majority of the bloodline in their peds which is false. Every time you cross the blood becomes a combo of the two not one or the other. When you add a half a dozen crosses you get further and further away from the Hemphill blood. Add to the mix breeders who haven't witheld the standards of Hemphill and 40+ years later alot of people don't have remnants of Hemphill dogs, let alone the performance and traits of hemphill dogs.

I don't consider myself an oldtimer but i will tell you this. The names on peds and dogs will determine the quality of what you feed. Ricky Jones once told me..."Blood always tells."

Well said, great information and hands on insite. Crazy Horse , The last statement you made sums it up. The Man behind the dogs we feed , will show the quality of what we have. I agree with that of course if the person that get one or a pair, does their part.

Those look just like the dogs Susie Brandt was breeding back in the early 90s, her dogs were culls from Ron sitzes and bill P.
Susie tried weight pulling them but the dogs had congenital heart murmurs so they were no good at that task.
Susie thought she could make a quick buck breeding the ofrn dogs but like most people that get into the dogs they quickly get too many and end up losing everything, ending with no place to live and the dogs being given away or worse.
So basically when you see the name Brandt in a pedigree you're looking at pure shit bred for no other reason to make a quick buck.
Bill P (rip) was a good man and good dogman, Bill kept the ofrn to peddle to newbies with pockets of cash and a Stratton book but he also had some real nice Bulldogs. He had a bitch off the Deacon x Assassinator breeding along with a few tight jeep dogs off Rocky ROM.
Bill always thought it funny that the kids would clamor to buy the ofrn dogs while walking right past some of the best Bulldogs WCC ever bred.
I had a really good friend in the dogs who was obsessed with getting one good ofrn dog, money was no object.
He literally went through about a hundred from several different breeders of Hemphill/wilder mutts. Zero made the cut.
Finally at my urging he took an ofrn bitch to Deacon and out of 4 pups only one would even start up but he was a pretty good dog and made champion losing his 4th in over 2 hours.
So if you want to mess with Hemphill dogs go ahead but that's the real world example of one man trying to get a good one.

Sorry but I tell the truth. There are countless honest Bulldogs out there being bred by honest dogmen and women. Go find them.
Call IM, he knows the wheat from the chaff.
The last thing needed is more crap bred Bulldogs.

I I asked if there were any breeders in Florida not for a crappy opinion and I don't need yours either so you shut the hell up I think if you you guys are a little bit overboard with these dogs go back in the trailer with your 10 out on heavy chains and chill out.

1. No one is going to answer your actual question because most know solicitation is only allowed in the kennel section here for premium members because they read the rules before posting. See our rules if you have not read them.

2. If you post on ANY public forum you are setting yourself up for others opinions. Not all will be what you wanted, it's just how it goes in the online world.

I will take for what it is and have learned quickly thats pretty much how it goes on the site , thanks for the input , I admitt i got upset but there is alot of good on the bottom side of her ped if you overlook the crap on the top especially for what I usey dogs for, im just used to being educated in a different manor, my apologies if I was a Dick, and if I didnt piss you off to bad Benthere please let me know of the man you mentioned in your fisrt post and I will contact him, thanks

Bill was a good guy but he wasn't a good dogman, today people don't know the difference! Bill had some excellent bred Tab dogs and a friend of mine bought a 3/4 Tab dogs from Bill that he named B.P. Bill traded two Apache pups for Red Beulah the pure Clouse dog who quit in under 10 minutes and bred her to his Hemphill/Wilder dogs. As history has shown dogs down from Bill's breeding program didn't measure up performance wise and it was a result of his selection process. Bill's objective wasn't about improving dogs but to sell dogs!

Just so you're prepared I'll give you a bit of what you might hear from him.
The Jake Wilder bred Hemphill dogs aren't even purebred apbt, they are crossed with redbone hound.
The bottom line is the dogs are your dogs, if you enjoy them great, that's all that really matters.
Just be careful with them, keep them away from the neighbors dogs, cats, children and livestock.
And my criticism of their breeding was just truth telling, the truth is they really aren't worth breeding.
Spay and neuter them and treat them as pets, if you want REAL Bulldogs start with IM.
