Some nice looking set ups here. Saw a horrible set up on social media the other day. Can tell a lot about the way a man keeps his dogs IMO. Was no surprise when other clips of this yard showed the owners to be broke wanna be gangster rapper types. Probably live in a shithole themselves so shouldn’t be surprised they keep the dogs in a similar state. Was on ott heavy chains with hardly any room to move. The area they could move literally had trash just laying on the floor. Showed a few of their kennels and was tiny, more like a large dog crate. Course the predictable videos of them facing off dogs too. Just thought what the fuck is even the point. They keep their dogs like shit and no one half sensible would want fuck all to do with them.

Last yard I saw over here where the dogs was kept like shit. The bloke soon revelled he was a sniff head. His life ended up as fucked up as the way he kept the dogs. Another had the dogs living surrounded by shit and was never walked. Offered me a coffee and the cup was so dirty. That shit got poured on the grass when he wasn’t looking lol . Yet I met a few who I’d heard bad stuff about and expected to find badly kept dogs. Only to see their dogs was treated like royalty and the bond was clear as day. So yeah I stick with my thought that can tell a lot about someone n how they keep their dogs.

Agk you lucky you were there with the red … i havnt been so lucky in the past and two of mine took a hold through the mesh ! They'd been alright for years but since one had pups i think the other was jealous ? Cant let them out in the area where the others are only mesh and dividing walls have to be solid tin sheeting

Originally I didn't have the divider fence between the kennels. My bitch Pumpkin, her daughter Harley got a hold of her muzzle through the links. Luckily she lost hold when trying to regrip and I was right there then too. The only time they have that kind of access to each other now is when I myself let one loose out into the main yard. I'm always right there though if they can get that close to each other.

The one thing I will say, tethering laws will have you set up for failure for accidents far easier than chain set ups do with these dogs. Kennels have to be opened to feed and rake. Giving the dog opportunity to get out while your hands are full and they sure can get to each other pretty quickly once loose. Even through welded wire kennels.

I have a gate that once I get a dog out to run the main yard, I close it behind me and they have no access to each other. They then can run the yard as they please without incident.

@AGK …Never ever had this happen before over the years and had two within weeks …. Its a nightmare trying to get them seperated when the one inside has the hold and you on yer own with another pup running loose ! Thing that made it worse was it happened a few weeks earlier and i thought it wouldn't ever happen again ! Lessons should have been learned that first day !! … open the kennel door and carry them down to the seperate part of the garden with another gate on like you say …. They are hard work at times :( … by the way lovely set up mate ….looks like you have alot of land

Lol I wish I had a lot of land.. I don't have but a 140' × 44' property that my house also sits on. It's not as big as it might look. It's big for being in the city limits but it's not very big. The yard is what sold me on the house. The deep back yard with a tree canopy. Was perfect at the time. Not enough yard these days lol.

I know this thread is old, but does anyone have their dogs split time on a secure outside set up, and time in the house? I know this is impossible with a lot of dogs, but say if you have only 1 or 2 dogs, does anyone do say 1-2 hours out a couple 3 times a day? The rest of the time would be in the house.

I have had nothing but bad luck with kennel runs....I built what I thought was a bulletproof set up. Bitch in the run, male on a tie out. She broke her teeth tearing out the triple secured wiring to get at him (and then he nearly killed her.) It was a miracle I did not have the authorities knocking on my door (they had been over 4 times for minor scuffles that I separated). He was on a tie out and had absolutely no interest in escaping. He was the melloist dog I ever had, no prey drive, nothing, unless another dog got close then the switch flipped. ..and also pound for pound the hardest biter. I spent quite a bit of money on my kennel too....hired a professional and thought it was bulletproof. After that I tried keeping her in the run and him in the house, switching them back and forth. She would still get out, and didn't care at all if she broke her teeth doing so. She hardly had any teeth by the time she was 6. And then get this: She would go out into the front yard and sit in front of the garage. These dogs never cease to amaze me.

I got about 6 letters from the HOA. It was the craziest thing. And this is a dog that had a soft mouth, mediocre wrestling ability....would never make it in the fast lane, but she was just nuts, LOL. I loved her anyways.
