So I'm calling around getting prices for rabies vacs for my pup and and I called this one place and they had me on hold for a couple minutes and a lady pics up the phone and I ask her bout the vac and the first thing she says is what type of dog is it and I tell her it's an apbt pup and she says we don't see them byby and hangs the phone up in my face. WTF I never heard of shit like this before has anyone else had this happen to them?

 

i would report her ass

 

for what?? they have the right not to service certain breeds. I would very happily go spend my money elsewhere

 

I aint never heard of that I wouldnt report her i just go up there an make a big scene lol jk i aint tryin to get arrested id just take my bizz somewhere else to if they wana turn down money let them be fools.

 

Next time call and say "I'm (insert minority here) and I have a pit bull I need to get shots for..."

tell them its a boxer/lab, shar pei/lab, or some other kind of mutt. this may help down the road if some kind of bsl is put in place. will also make life easier, once people hear "pit-" their minds are made up. you know what your dog is other people dont have to. a rose by any other name is still a rose.

my vet does not have a problem with pit bulls but we have used him for years

Have not had that happen to me but anything is possible nowadays. The funny thing is is that good apbt owners are usually repeat customers.

 

update- found a great vet about 10 mins from my house, told my old lady what happened she called got the same results but before the lady hung up she was able to ask why and was told that there is some bullshit bsl in fayetville, tn ( they are located in huntsville, al and so am i) and they were trying to discourage people from buying the breed because of that. thats the dumbest shit ever or she is lying out of her old ass. i'm glad she said they dont do bulldogs cause i would have went there for a rabies vac and they probaly would have put her to sleep and blamed it on a bad reaction to the shot.

 

If you haven't already, I would speak directly to the vet so he knows what the receptionist is telling potential clients. She may have her own agenda (against APBT or the vet and telling a lot of people with different breeds the same thing) and the vet may be unaware of it. Sucks, but it happens and if it was my employee, I would want to know.

 

Try family pet care off of east limestone rd. I've been using them for a couple of years and they are really good with my dogs.
