Would you breed a dog that had Strangles?

I just bought a Basset Hound in July. Turns out a littermate of his has puppy strangles. she will be fine as she is being treated and she is expected to recover fully and be a fine adult.

Anywho, while researching the disease I can across some information that says the disease is extremely rare and not known for sure if it is inherited or not. Some sites say it may be genetic and some say it isn't.

Since the disease is so rare an there isn't any conclusive evidence that it is inherited would you think ti irresponsible to breed a dog that had the disease as a pup?

I am not breeding any of my dogs. I was just curious what breeders think.

You guys are being hypocritical. Not all Bassets are those hideous, dick-scraping-against-the-ground-as-it-walks creatures. Just like not all pit bulls are big, blue hippos.
There are some nice looking working Bassets out there. They're just a lot harder to find.

Anyhoo, I know nothing about strangles but if there is any doubt as to whether or not it is genetic, I wouldn't breed dogs with it. If a dog had thrown a pup with it I would also be cautious about every breeding it again. As in, keep the pups yourself or in a close circle so you could monitor them.

it's scary to think that the people who are in charge of these dog club foundries
have no desire to keep the basic rule that function follows form. any deviation away from that standard is pretty f*cking perverted. you ever watch the big name dog shows on tv and see the shape of the handlers and clothes choices...? they're all
a bunch of god damn ree~ree's.

i googled strangles and from what i'v read there appears to be as many questions as answers to what causes it that being the case and not being able to rule it out as a genetic flaw i would definitely get the dog fixed it would be immoral to breed to it
