  3. It’s defo the big one lol..

Just thought ide mention that John d Johnson said his original stock came from a English settlement at Savanna in 1733.

I doubt that very much but just thought ide say anyways.

  7. Nope...but the more I think the more it leads me to bill gorge.
The am bulls just look like big white bull mastiffs or boxers.
I can’t help but think there a relation between them all.

I Could be wrong man,but I can’t think of any thing else?

Can any body eles think of were they came from?

  8. This comment was to your other comment before Ricky.

  9. I though that to...seems a bit far fetched to trace them back to 1733.
He should of said they went back to Egypt times if he was gonna go for it lol.

just because you cant see the pics doesnt change the fact, The type existed, name is new. Im not going to look up those 2 JDJ dogs u posted. However, they look like they were after JDJ out crossed to EB, he admitted to, and St Bernard, he denied. Those are not the type he started with. Check out sandman the great, then check his progeny. The dogs got bigger and bullier, quick.

  13. it’s just not a old type..
There is no evidence they were a type before 1950.every picture of one before then just ain’t one.some pics were over sized show bulldogs bull mastiffs and large pit dogs.
I’m trying to be fair here by mentioning bill gorge.if they do actually go back to bills experiment then they are a cross between a pug blooded English show bulldog and a Spanish bull baiting dog called Alano.
But if truth be told they ain’t even that!
Buffons mastiff of 1777 has obviously been seen by Johnson for him to come up with the English settlement story at Savana in 1733.
Are they a mastiff like what Buffon depicted?
I would like to think so but it’s very wishful thinking.i doubt that very much LOL.

I have to agree with Ricky on this one.made up breed.

    I’m out.all the best

Why do you believe they existed? there is no evidence at all , I think its a made up story to sell dogs ,,the dogs your talking about like Sandman the great, he was born in 1973...his sire was born 10 years earlier and no dogs mentioned before him , its a made up breed from late 1950s -early 1960s ,,

  15. Haha lol...it is a made up breed to sell(peddle)dogs.....I agree on that one.

But everybody seems to think it’s the old bull baiting dog!?!
Haha,Oh come on folks it’s just blatantly not.
There’s not one drawing of a bull baiting contest depicting a dog that looks anything like the Am bull.

It’s a made up breed with a fake historical bull baiting record.

    And pitbulldogs?
    Come on!
A pitbulldog is another name for a fckn pitbull.
What’s it say on mountains mans yard sighn?
    Pibulldogs for sale here.
    Are his dogs Am Bulls?NO!

All these fake names and fake history on this breed are a joke.

Nothing more then a cross bred pitbull.

I’m defo out now lol..all the best.

There is some kind of disconnect here. I do have hundreds of photos of this type pre 1950s, and before cameras were invented, paintings and illustrations. Plenty has been written about bulldogs from all around Europe, and documented they were sent to many other countries. U could read about them being added to the fighting dogs of Japan, Cuba, Argentina, and yes photos do exist. You will not find them labeled American Bulldog, the name was created in the 60s I believe. Before that for a short time they came up with the name American Pit Bulldogs, the "Pit" was dropped because people were getting confused with the APBT. U think the show bulldog was the build it is now when it was an actual working dog? How about the show Boxer? Bullmastiff, Mastiff, DDB, Cane Corso, ect? When I talk about American Bulldogs, I mean Scott / Performance types, not the giant sloppy JDJ dogs.
