Is it ok to gift to a wheelchair man a dog? Will they be able to take proper care of the poppy?

Well, it might seem too much to handle but imagine the love this owner would feel from interacting with the puppy!

For sure, it would be a great although risky idea to give such a gift to a person with a wheelchair. Thinking about the responsibilities and the tasks that would need to be undertaken on a daily basis it definitely looks like a mission impossible. However, you can always find a very good wheelchair or rent the best affordable scooters much easier even for a disabled person to walk around with the dog and even making a simple task such as feeding it way more easy. So yeah a disabled person walking around with a dog on a scooter will look super cool and encouraging.

A dog as a gift is almost never a good idea. That's how they end up in shelters. I'd make sure the guy even wants a dog or is capable of caring for one before gifting them 1.

I would not recommend this breed as the gift.

  5. Yeah, I agree it would be a struggle in a way, but the scooter would make things more accessible for the doggy at least.

I would not "gift" anyone a pet before checking with them first.

Wheelchairs can be specially-designed for use with a service dog as an assistant aid. In this case, the user of the wheelchair controls the movement and braking of both their wheelchair and the dog.
Some people request dogs to help them get around when they're in a wheelchair due to spinal cord injury, MS or other neurological conditions like Parkinson's disease.
In some cases, there are specialized harnesses that can be put on a pet so they can walk alongside someone who uses a quad cane in front and needs support from another person behind (sort of like all four legs walking). When this is done safely, it may help improve balance for each party.

How to get a dog used to the wheelchair, and other information for people who use wheelchairs.

The trick is to do some conditioning with your pup before they meet you in your chair. What I mean by this is that if you're going out on a walk and you have someone else push the chair, her favorite toy or treat should be tied to your handlebars so she can investigate it from afar while the person pushing your chair inches slowly closer until finally she's touching her nose against it (remember these are dogs of all shapes and sizes) than give her a big reward for "helping" or "playing".

This has nothing to do with the question being asked.
