Using a small amount of weights is called resistance exercise for toning and increasing muscle endurance!

There are several styles of resistance exercise. There is (1) Olympic lifting (where athletes lift the weight overhead like you see in the Olympics), (2) power lifting (a competition where athletes perform the squat, dead lift, and bench press), and (3) weight lifting (a sport where athletes lift heavy weights—typically fewer than six reps). When you lift weights at the gym to get stronger or bigger or more toned, you are performing resistance exercise. Occasionally you will hear the term "strength training" associated with lifting weights. Technically, it's incorrect to refer to resistance exercise as strength training. Instead, strength training would more accurately be described as resistance exercise that builds strength. In this article, the term resistance exercise will refer to the general type of weight lifting that you do in the gym to get bigger, stronger, more toned, or to increase your muscular endurance.

so very true;), and that's why i think they don't make a decent weight harness unless its for bullies? and you see what good it does them!!!!

This was a fad in the 80's I repeat a fad.I've been around plenty of game contest dogs and i've never seen one conditioned this way (yet alone a hundred lbs.)They're dogs not people.Too much muscle on one of these dogs will ruin it's ability to properly cool itself off when its working.Look at any of the great dogs from the past and you will see none of them are muscle-bound in facts a good share of them are lean and hound-dog looking

nothin wrong with power training. increases muscle strength endurance and explosion. i don tthink i'd invest alot in the equipment bc resistance training should be a VERY small part of training IMO. Mix in power exercise a little and make sure ur not only doing resistance workouts. But overall i think it can help

Completely agree, plus everything in moderation is the key! Just because you use the weighted harness doesn't mean you put it on the dog a whole lot, but I think it's beneficial in assisting a dogs condition.

There is nothing wrong with the weights on the dog. I am not going to share some of my muscle building tips for some of my opponents to be reading this post.---- What moron is going to give his secrets and share conditioning/muscle building tips and whatnot to his opponents? I have not fully worked my dog out to best ability so if anyone wants to make a smart ass mark about my dog saying jelet, why isnt your dog ripped to shreds. they can suck my hairy sweaty cock. I been busy and it is very time consuming to achieve this. Will start working him out once his hair grows back. Till then. I will keep him in good shape. Looking like a track runner... Not a bodybuilder. Granted, genetics can only go so far.

And why I posted that image. Because that was my face reaction to your post!

Fat does not get converted into muscle. They are two different tissues. And tighten up muscle? the hell? do you even know anything about muscle building? It WILL build muscle on "lean dogs" as well. It will tare the muscle fibers when properly done with a good diet. Just like in people. You have a skinny kid start to work out for a long time and then gains mass that is from muscle. he gains muscle mass. which makes him big. or as you call it "big muscle" .

There is woman on here that goes by the name of "Briarpatch".She has a weight vest on her dog that looks to be much better fitting, and very nicely made.I dont know if the weight on it is adjustable or not,but it looks a hell of alot better than anything on this thread so far.You might want to ask her where she got hers.

Jelet does use weights, just look at his/hers photos. I also did think his/hers opinion was against weights when I first saw the post but I guess it was about the way your post was written.
About fat turning into muscle, scientifically speaking it doesn't happen, but, when an overweight individual starts weight traing all these stored calories or the extra daily required calories to sustaine this extra weight can and will assist muscle growth. Simply said, muscle growth requires calories, no matter if they are already stored or supplied externally on demand. And I do remember the time people use to say that fat will turn into muscle, because of the above explanation, it wasn't that long ago.
One last fact, muscle size is not a matter of weights use or not but aerobic / anaerobic activity and how it is incorporated in a training regime.
