Just out of curiously. When you guys go on vacation, even if it’s only for the weekend, what do you do with your dogs? I am asking because I had a bed experience with a “Kennel” were the owner took my dog home from the Kennel. I guess late that night she realize she couldn’t handle him and wanted me to pick him up. When he should have been locked up in the kennel at the Vet office she owned.

  2. Well I cannot speak for others, but we usually try to get someone we trust to take care of them while we are gone. A friend or family member....

Well i live in a small town and some members of my familly takes care of the dogs. I would suggest leaving the dog in a respectable kennel, in wich you dog will be taken outside and get some exercised and also a kennel that has experience because an apbt can be a bit of a handfull for an inexperienced person. If you can't find that sort of a kennel, you can hire someone to go and feed , water and clean up for the time you are gone , maybe you will find some ads in the local paper for someone to take care of him while you are gone.

I tried that too. With my husbands sister (who I am not very fond of). We were gone for one night and one day and when I picked up the dogs they were standing in there own pee all bitten up by misquotes and she was home so I couldn’t get there food out of the house. That was yesterday, she still isn’t home. So my dogs still have no food. I am going to have to go buy more. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Either I take my dog with me or someone stays at my house. If I can't do either, I will not go...

  6. Very rarely I go in vacation, when I do my father or a friend take care of my dogs.

I've only got one, and she goes with. If I had to go somewhere and couldn't take her, I would research and find the cleanest, most highly-recommended boarding kennel I could. Or its certainly possible I just wouldn't go.

After 10 years with this breed I'm leaving for my first trip without the dogs on Friday and won't be back untill Monday. I have never been so full of anxiety in my life. I'm having my sister-in-law stay at the house. She has been around our dogs since they were pups but has never taken care of them. I have six dogs so a boarding kennel is out of the question. I'll let you know how it goes, wish me luck.

well we don't go on vacation a lot but when i do go there is a family who lives in town who has a daughter who loves bulldogs with a passion so she jumps at any chance she can get to help me out with them whether i am there or not.just the other day she was here helping me scoop up around them and feed them.so i do that or if i can not get her my vet will watch them for me he will come and feed them clean up around them and even treat them if something should happen.last vacation he did this for me and last time i left them was to go to Daves service and we stayed with his children for 4 days helping them out and my friends daughter watched them for me.but as far as kennels go i would never leave any APBT or anything that looks like one in their care.most hate them so they treat them very poorly or others even though you give them instructions to keep them seperate from other dogs go ahead and let them loose to ''play'' anyways and then you have a big mess on your hands so either way kennels are a no win situation for our breed.so try and get a trusted friend or family member to watch them for you or just don't go is my advice.

I usually leave them inside the house seperated, if Im leaving for the weekend. My brother who owns bulldogs too, comes in and feeds em, walks em etc. If it's longer than 4 or 5 days, I'll leave them at my vet's. A bit pricey but it's worth the peace of mind

If everyone involved with ATK went on vacation at one time we may have an issue. Thats not likely to happen though. I do have to agree with OT, Im not sure I'd leave any of our dogs at a boarding kennel.

  12. I agree with you, bulldogs and boarding kennels = baaaad idea...
