to cull or not to cull

was talkn to a dogman frm turkey,n we got round to talkn bout breedn n culln.he says he culls everythng that doesnt meet his standards.i was askn him y he doesnt give away or sell a few of those that wuld @ least make gud pets.as long as those dogs r fixed i dnt c a problem wit lettn a few go to a gud owner.he just said no dog like that will ever leave his yard period...what ur all thoughts on this?

 

I would give some that didn't work out in my yard but they would have to be fixed before they left and would not give any paper work.And would not tell them anything about the breeding(bloodline)all they would have is a Pet Bull.

There's still always that chance that something could go wrong under their ownership. Would have to screen hard and make sure they understand what they're getting. Plus you just can't save em all. I'd say cull the ones that don't work out and place the good ones that you don't have room for.

 

i would agree with your turkish friend. That is an issue i see that has helped the problems we have today,breeders not culling but giving away shit dogs. They ended up in jimmy dumbfuck's hands and he bred them like crazy and then jimmy dumbfuck and all his buddy's started breeding all these shit dogs on the street.
It is what needs to be done,cull the shit dog and let the good ones live.

I'm all for culling except for VERY rare exceptions. After working within rescue and seeing the mass quantity of ''pet quality'' dogs that are in an over abundance due to to low quality breeders pumping out dogs like a cash crop, and the only other thing surpassing the quantity of dogs already available to ''pet homes'', is the quantity of idiots looking for ''pet dogs'', culling is the only way to go IMO.

 

Here's my question:

How do you "cull" legally? Bring 'em to the vet to get put down? Vets up this way won't just "put one down" cuz you say so...

Spay and place it? Then there's always the chance of something stupid happening.

But cull on your own and u could end up doing time. Ain't that what Vick actually ended up in the most trouble for?

 

agreed 100%,exactly what needs to be done or jimmy dumbfuck will just breed and sell because of paperwork,not for good dogs.to many people trying to make a living by selling bullshit dogs,rather than getting a real job

 

if u cull on ur own,noone will know but you,for as Mike Vick he could have simply dispose of the dogs in a fast manner,but chose to do childish shit with those dogs like drowning,shocking and ect..............

 

drowning has been a method sense the beginning. if more folks would cull there own shit there wouldn't be as many problems with dogs today.

 

find someone that eat dogs and let them cook it no evidence found j/k I'd say culling is for people in the outer limits of the cities. Or else your snooping neighbor well have lots to say.

 

The few that has left didn't leave with papers.and are right where i can see them.

When i was growing up my grandad would take dogs down to the bottom of the field were his cattle would die from old age.He'd walk down with a dog but always came back alone.Way it should be.
