The Week Before A Show?

I am entering my dog kn a show on the 24th March, which is one week away.

I was wondering of anyone had any tips for making the dog look his best? Is there anything specific I should do in the final run up to the show?

My dog is only a 9mos old pup so I haven't done any real conditioning with him, but he looks quite well IMO.

    Thanks

a dogman once told me to groom my dog with a damp nylon stocking to remove loose hair and bring up a shine.

I don't know about the nylons but a lady that shows Rhodesian Ridgebacks hardly ever gives her dogs a bath and she grooms them with a regular latex glove like they use at the doctors office.

Nice dog! Hey, did you build that mill? If so, I would love to get those plans. I need a simple mill like that to exercise my bitch when the weather is bad.

ShoSheen for horses, you should be able to get it at any feed store. Will repel dust, pollen, grass stains.

A week before, I wouldn't mess with his food, but Missing Link is an excellent supplement, if your dog likes it.

Suppose it is lol. I was just wondering if there was any tricks of the trade that might help :) he has to enter with the SBT Males because they have no pup class. I kinda wanted to go with the APBT pups.

At 9 months old the only thing a pup needs before a show is a good neck rub and some positive encouragement, good luck.

They're not having age groups? Even then they usually have males in females.

this works very well, but at 9 months you dont need to have them in great shape... I hold off on conditioning untill adult classes...stop all mill work and hand walk only for this week, alot of it

  16. Did I put LOL like I was joking?

  17. You should never cut food to trim a dog even just a little bit. Put in the work and do it right.

with the rest. Some wonderful advise. Sounds like the dog may be young, so just be easy and have fun for now. Getting him use to the mill will not hurt, just short sessions, to be sure he enjoys it -vs- being afraid.
Time is short, but you may be able to give some shine to his coat with fish oil. Some ol timers I gain advise from swear to green beens being added a week before show. Something that has been done for a long time. Diet is key. Just study, try new things, not too fast, for quick changes cause issues too.

Here is another tip....if you put in the time, and faith, you will have a great chance at showing others how you take care of your dogs.
You can tell how much time someone puts in simply by looking at their animals.

This is true, its extreamly obvious when someone cuts food instead of working a dog....like night and day. I actully end up upping food before shows because
The harder you work, the more gas he needs.... Its all trial and error, what works for my dog wont work for boogiemans.... Ive had alot of luck hand walking in the final Weeks.... Ease them into it get them into shape slowly, if your dog is a little off for this one its ok, itll be good for the next

Dont do this, its a terrible idea and the wrong wat to get a dog on shape
If you were getting ready for a marathon, would you stop eating?
