Hello everyone, I know I am new to your forum, but I thought you might want to know you that Don Brodt passed away on April 14 of a brain aneurysm.
His Birthday would have been this Sunday January 25th. He was a real gentleman who loved his dogs, he will be dearly missed.

He sure does Goat. Don is one of the few I've been trying to reconnect with since I started thinking about these hounds again and visiting this forum a short while ago. I was going to ignore this thread about ch Ninja just like I ignored the topic back then. I didn't know Don until about the time Ninja passed I believe. We did talk about it a few times thru the yrs but I was never much for the drama. So I don't know for sure about the breeding nor do I care. I can say this about Don. He was a stickler for detail and if you have ever had a conversation with him you should understand that. He was a honest man that left no detail out of any topic weather it was about his vehicle or the dogs or what we were having for dinner. Every point was covered. I did not know him to be a liar or a saint. Just a man I could trust and I never heard him talk bad about anyone. I will remind some people about a very old saying. Just because it makes sense doesn't mean its true. I've owned and or seen Jeep and jeep crosses enough to know his seemed to be just like the rest of it sometimes better, sometimes not. At times he also crossed his stuff with the Nigerino stock and let me tell you that the results where not near as good as the chinaman/nigerino cross nor did they act the same for what it is worth. I know the individuals used matters more that the cross itself but the individuals used where no pushovers. But of course it is all mute now because Don is gone and last I checked it takes 2 to tango so we will never know for sure. Either way I have fed some from Don and would gladly do so again. OUT of interest, ya have me thinking,,now i'am not a fan off chinaman dogs,,but as the saying go's don't thrash if ya did'nt try..so..the Q...how did ya rate the china/nigerino..X.....say out off 10..or to other nigerino/x...????

 

I'll say first that I am no expert on the chinaman/nigerino cross or any chinaman blood for that matter. But from the right sources I give it a 9 at least. I'm sure a few others back in the day would rank it pretty high as they based there yards on it. I love Eli jr blood in general and if indeed Chinaman was bred as advertised than it is no surprise that the 2 families clicked so well together. Its also the reason I liked the idea of the jeep/rascal/nigerino cross. Didn't see too many representatives but didn't see more than average out of what I saw. I did own one that I got from Don named Tater right before I got rid of my dogs. I woulda named him Timex, Marathon, All day, or something of that nature. But ugly and average other than that. The same for the rest of the litter as far as the info I received from there owners.

Don definitely bred to Chinaman. He never denied it. It just wasn't dotty.

 

Original Peds been deleted and the number was given to that other dog. I've had it happen a few times.
