If you are going to start a yard. Look for dogs that are what you want. Study breeding formulas and genetics a bit. Study the dogs and breeders you find to make sure they are not a peddler, fakes, or a snake. Begin to talk about paying for a good dog. Some people will make you pay up front, others may not stress or just offer the dog to you because you are an honest person with loyalty in your eyes and a heart of gold. All will becomes clear, than you will be able to start a yard. Dont get in a big hurry or it will drive you mad. baby steps. Lots of work and taking care of more than one dog is a chore in itself.
    Hope that helps.

maverick dogs are a dime a dozen, so be stringent when making your selection....and if you find someone willing to part with "real" bullyson dogs....let me know....lol...

Start with a bitch who is a proven producer. Take her to the best studs available.

Just my 2cents and it dont count for alot..But starting a yard I would say LOOK at what and HOW you plan on using the dogs..And that will determine the traits and charcteristics you need to search for..How does and How is this family of dogs going to fit my lifestyle?..just my 2 cents

Be HONEST with yourself ..and ask yourself WHAT am I breeding for? Thier is NO sence in starting a yard based off NOTHING..None at all.

What's with all the jackasses not knowing shit, wanting to start yards, rattling off random well known bulldog names here lately?

  11. I was in the dogs when I was 19, chasing tail and earning an honest living threw a pause in the dog game. I was tooken under the wing by a good dogman, some consider great. So i know what I want, I know what Ive always wanted. Being away for almost 10yrs some new dogs arent as familiar. So Im just trying to get some updated news on what I like in my bulldogs. Dont mean to rant, but I aint just pop up.

The offspring of dogs related to your should still be around. What else is there to wonder about?

  14. @the peon. Its pointless to try and prove my experience over a internet forum. Just looking for insight and really wanting to talk dogs not talk trash. Quit being a peon. What happened to the dogmen who would rather school someone to doing right and honest things rather than be a jackass. Guess the only way is to let tha dogs speak for me. Smdh

Why not find some of the old blood you had? An start from there? That will take less time and problems looking? Only if they where good dogs. Maybe the person whoo took you under his wing can help if he's still around.

With the lines you mentioned, I would go with a good Nigerino dog or even a Chinaman dog (I'm not a fan of Garner, but I know of people who swear by his stuff) Really depends on what You're planning on doing with the dogs, though.

Its hard to be helpful when people ask stuff like what do I need to start a yard. Especially people who claim to have been in the dogs for a long time lol ill give it a try though
Bulldogs, dogs houses, chain setups, a few bags of dog food, water bowls, womer, needles/syringes. What else can ya'll think of so we can be helpful to this esperienced dogman?

Go be a yardboy and see if you really want to go that route. If your thinking your gonna be the next Tom Garner you really better have a good reality check.
Also it takes big money to properly house and maintain bulldogs. You never know what can happen on any givin day when your keeping a yard. Belive me it is not for everybody.
So again I say my best advice is to help a dogman out.
