But then I have to get the dog to me from Mexico....No disrespect to BlackRock, they are producing phenomenal dogs but I can get something almost as good for $700 and only a 2 hour drive. Living in Texas does have its advantages.

I would then have to drive to Florida to breed to he Hollingsworth Dolly (ROM) Bull (POR) stud. I can do that for $1k, but then I would have the time and expense of driving, need a hotel, etc. I guess I am just not a hard core enough dogman to pull it off. I did something like this a long time ago, but I had a partner back then to offset some of the cost and more importantly took a couple of the dogs.

Would be a hell of a cross though.

Here is the exact cross I would do. A female from this breeding:modules.php

Little Red was Dog of the year 2017, and Red Lady comes from stock related to the Hollingsworth dogs.

To this stud:modules.php I saw first hand a son of Bull (Crash 2x) and he was a good producer.

If you're getting dogs the same quality that blackrocks produces(multiple dogs of the year, ch after ch, world known animals) for 700 why entertain the idea of them anyway? Get one already and show us these amazing dog of the year quality dogs. So far it's just a bunch of "pretty" papers, plans to breed dogs you don't even own and writing books about nothing online.

That is essentially the logic. Since I have no plans to campaign or even found a bloodline it simply does not make financial sense to spend that kind of money and effort. The Blackrock dogs are $2.5k....and to the right person well worth the money. Just be aware of the fact that it took me 3 weeks of research to discover them, while it took someone like you a lifetime.

That illustrates my next point: I think this great breed does indeed merit having books written about it. Speaking of writing books, you seem to be confused about what it takes to write with knowledge, authority, and ultimately readability about a topic. The ability to write and pass down knowledge is what separates humans from animals, and great civilizations from inferior civilizations. For example, your average, semi literate grunt fought in a war, but does not have the writing skills to produce a coherent and readable book about the war in which he fought. Who writes books about wars? Historians, often people with no firsthand fighting experience, yet they are authorities on war. Similarly, I am an historian of this breed and have the training and literary skills to write about them. I have also owned some very good dogs. In fact I did exactly what I have done recently and ended up with 2 dogs directly down from 2 champions with multiple GRCH and Roms up close in the pedigree. I did so because I had the knowledge, drive, and financial resources to do so. The dogs were also tested to ensure they had the qualities that define the breed, although ultimately I decided not to breed them. One dog was game, almost dead game but lacked mouth and ability. The other dog had extraordinary ability. However my energies were focused upon human competition at that time (athletes I prep, and my own pursue of professional status in my own sport).

The larger point here is that, while I have not managed a yard of dogs for 40 years, nor been present at famous matches, I have spent thousands of hours studying this breed, and hundreds talking to people like Mike Norrod and even Bert Sorrels. Why is this important and of value? Because I can be a representative who can present a positive face to the public. Conversely, if someone interested in the breed comes onto this forum, and all they see is you and Ben Brockton arguing constantly with everyone and anyone they say "well I guess the breed is as scummy as the people owning and breeding it." You need to step back and check yourself before you wreck yourself and the public's perception of these great animals. You might say...in fact I am pretty sure you will say "fuck everyone and their perceptions" but you fail to understand that that behavior and attitude will only result in more breed specific legislation and further laws against this magnificent breed of dogs. A lowering tide sinks all boats.

Now back to my personal dog. Correct I am paying $700 and correct it is probably not the caliber of a dog out of Black Rock. But it is extremely robust, healthy and comes from a 2 time winner. I live in Texas where there are lots of good dogs at working man prices. The dog is going to be a house pet, I have no plans of breeding it. Plus my personal situation, I am having heart surgery/proceedure on Tuesday, does not put me in a good position to engage a massive strategy that will require a ton of work/driving.money on my part.

I am perfectly happy with my decision. Now if you really want to argue with me, I will embarrass you again like I did on my 8 page thread where you (and Ben) actually bought into my claim that I would insert "lactate" ringers into my dogs anus to re-hydrate it. You were trolled pretty badly there, I would think you would want to avoid further humiliation.

One thing I will say, and I know good dogs are where you find them and there are lots of great dogs that are kept pretty secret, but the Black Rock dogs are probably the best out there. I've heard they have been campaigned on the other side of the planet and have been pretty dominant there too.

Yes, I know that. And Ben has one two. Here is the thing, I found and got dogs of that caliber 25 years ago (off GRCH lunch) I found and got dogs of that caliber 12 years ago (off Champ Crazy Legs....and just look at this ped: modules.php).

Whenever I am looking to acquire a new dog it takes me about 3 weeks to get one of the best in the world. You on the other hand, had to devote your whole life to accomplishing the same.

Sure. He is in it to make a living...some call that peddling but I do not fault them whatsoever. There is another kennel from Mexico I almost bought a dog from that was quite good and much less money. I am lucky, being in Texas. There is also a very good dog from overseas that is now in the US that is a great dog. I try and do my homework, treat everyone with politeness and respect and things usually work out well. Oh, and most importantly, don't do or say anything stupid. I say lots of stupid stuff, but never anything that will get anyone in trouble.

I try and approach everything with an open mind and even though I have studied these dogs for decades, I have much, oh so much to learn.

    BTW, love your Avatar!

Theres dogman in Mexico that are in their 70’s and 12 generations into there breeding programs. Still producing grade A stock.
The Men behind famous dogs people chase.

Then you have men like don Gabriel who went 47 - 2 in a calendar year.
Arnold Cardenas went into him 6 times and never beat him.
Completely unknown to the USA but known from the border to Peru.

In Mexico they have there hero’s just like in America and many of those dogman down there are still scratching hard.

Yeah, I just know the general agreement of everyone I talk to in Texas is that Mexico dogs are good and there is a lot of action. I don't know specifics. I know nothing of Mexican dogs.
