I dont think that is even what the post is about. your turning the point of the post. It is about why people choose what they choose, not what you think of their choice. because as it has been pointed out, you are not them. your personal choice doesnt amount to a hill of beans on another mans yard, so what you think of thier dogs and how you feel about game versus not is mute.

I personally could care less what anyone thinks of my dogs... at the end of the day I love them just the same. If you want to kick in on some feed or grab a vet bill then you can pass judgement and make an opinion to what i keep.

Your way off in what the question was asking. It was asking for opinions on why people own the dogs they have, not what your feeling on those people or dogs are. No one ever said they don't like what your trying to accomplish with the breed so get that mess out of your head right now. Your gettin a little crazy right now and you need to just calm down and relax. You should stick to what the post was asking and not feel threatened, b/c you have no need to. It was asking for what peoples personal preference was, not what they think about game dogs or non game. Stick to the original post question or don't put your 2cents in b/c that's not what it asked for. We all know your feelings and beliefs but it wasn't asking for your opinion. IT was asking for those that don't want or have a game dog and their reasoning behind it.

"Well then all APBT owners "gamebred owners" should just start buying up all the mulatta dogs an then kill'em off so the breed will be brought back in check. Fight? Who is fighting? I see people typing but see very little on the doing. If there is something going on then please tell me where to go to see if I wish to join in. I see people and hear people talking about what needs to be done but see very little in action. I will drop back to the BSL fight. There are some major opportunities for people to be seen and be heard around the country but only a very small portion of bull owners are putting boots on the ground. I have heard I have a job or I dont have the time. This may be true for some but I believe for most it is just to easy to stay home and complain about what others are doing. The people who want to take your dog away are taking the time to fight for their cause. That may be whay they are winning at this point. Here in GA I have been amazed at how many bullies are in the state compared to the number of owners and breeders who will show up at a state level hearing to fight for there breed of choice. If GA is a representation of what is going on in the rest of the country then you dont need to worry about pure breds because they will all be extinct, pure and mixed. I believe it is in how bad do you really want something. If you want it bad enough you will go the extra mile to get it.
We or some of us have dogs that would without question give their life in our defense and we on the other hand seem not to be so loyal when it may hurt a little. I am sure their are a few giving till it hurts but as in most things it is a very few. I know this may a bit off subject but I believe it is relivent when talk of preserving the breed comes up. If we are not allowed to own the breed then why would it matter if it is pure or not because it will no longer exist. This is only aimed at the ones who can but will not, and at those who just lie to themselves so they don t have to. In the end my conscience will be clear win or lose, how about yours. You dont have to attack me for this statement if you feel you have and will continue to do all you can, but if that little pain in your gut tells you youve been lieing to yourself then FIX it and get busy."

Why does it not bother and upset more people that you are going to lose your dogs if things dont turn around. I and others in here will complain about this and that but how many are just archair generals who have no intentions of doing anything that will really make a difference. I am not saying that I am a leader, I feel I am a follower of those who at least seem to willing to fight and do it in a manner that may get results. Pettitions are warm and fuzzy but easy to ignore, face to face is alittle more difficult to ignore and hundreds and thousands are impossible to ignore. You could not ignore Malcom, or Martin and their followers why would it be any different for us? Heck the homos fight harder than the bullie owner for their rights. Aint that something fairy vs APBT, fairy in the lead. I do believe the fight is not over but we sure are on the wrong side of favor.

Actually, Mia is right on target as always. The point of this thread was to point out that the people that want these dogs are drawn to them because they either (a) can not handle a true APBT or (b) they do not like what a true APBT looks like and my point has been proven. I am trying to get you to understand "If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen". If you can't deal with or don't like a true APBT, get a different breed. Yeah, it has everything to do with personal preference, just as you say. Your personal preference is for dogs that are not APBT, they just have the name slapped on them. Get what you are looking for in a different breed with a different name. A breed where the name suits the breed. These dogs that you are breeding and buying are not APBTs. If you love your dogs, like you say, you would be proud to call them amstaff, mixed breed, etc. You and your dogs wouldn't need to hide behind the name APBT. Point proven.

    Here we go again... LOL.

The board must get boring without the drama and feuding that this topic brings along. So one weeks its blue dogs, then its big dogs, now its show dogs....

Let me say it in plain english: It doesnt matter what any of you think about anyone elses dogs. Bitching and complaining isnt going to urge a person one way or another in purchasing a dog. There are bad breeders in all lines of dogs... and if you want to be technical the game dogs are the ones being used in the all the illegal fighting rings. when a thug wants a tough dog.. he is going to get a dog that show aggression overtly... they dont know the difference between game and aggression. so its your game dogs that end up in thier hands.
WHile you hate the non-game dogs and what they are and have become.. lets keep in mind that they are a more docile and PC version of the breed you love. and As I stated these are the dogs that upper class america has laying at their feet. when it comes time to pass laws and make legislation.. please belive that they are the ones that matter. so while you point your finger of dissaproval, these show dogs are a part of the reason that your dogs are still legal.

"Why not get a well bred dog from game lines (the true representation of the breed)? These dogs can compete in shows and they will represent what the breed is really supposed to look like? Which I believe is the only way the dogs should be judged. These dogs can weight pull and they can pull more weight per lb than any of the bigger dogs."

This is what you were asking and if it wasn't the answer you were looking for then why did you ask it in the first place? How do you know what people want dog for and how can you say "the people that want these dogs are drawn to them because they either (a) can not handle a true APBT or (b) they do not like what a true APBT looks like" This is pure speculation and has no truth to it.

And secondly, I own Game dogs pal. I don't use them in the ring and I never will. I love them to much to put them through that, but my dogs are game bred. They are true according to standard.

Third, You asked why people have those preferences and what those preferences are? Not what game dog people think of thoses that don't own game pits. You need to word your questions a little differently if you are seeking a different answer. Those that don't own game pits told you why they don't and that answered your original question. Reread your post if there is any confusion with this. How can you ask for an opinion from non game dog owners and get your answers from a game dog owner. That doesn't make sense, now do it.

Do you really believe that your type of dog is not people aggressive just because it is lazy? I have never seen a game bred dog that was people aggressive. Never. On the other hand, every dog that was bred for looks that I know of (with the exception of one) has bitten or tried to bite a few people. I have been bitten by one of these mutts myself. I watched as one reared it's lips at an eight year old recently because the kid walked by. Did the owner believe me when I told her. Hell no. She loves her dog and her dog wouldn't hurt a flea. LMAO. When I asked if it has bitten anyone she said yes. Her excuse "someone was yelling at me, so thats different". WTF. I have been bitten once by a watchdog mason mccoy cross. I know of another mutt that attacked the owners girlfriend for no reason. I know of another blue that has bitten 3 people before it was 6 months old. Another one bit my best friend on the head. The list goes on and on. I don't find it as coincidence that all of these dogs are people aggressive and the properly bred dogs are not. I do have a big problem with these dogs. If you look at my posts in the past, the majority of them are on topics such as this. I wouldn't have this vendetta unless it was warranted. I have seen too many problems with these dogs and that is why I will continue getting pissed at posts that try to give the impression that these poorly bred dogs are better than a game bred dog. If you like a calm, pretty dog. GET A WELL BRED AMSTAFF and stop screwing up this breed.

LOL at all of you. I have better luck educating my mailbox.

And it's common knowledge on here that I own rescued pit bulls, ENCOURAGE the rescuing of them, & don't give a rat's ass as to what their peds might be. I love them all of the same. But I don't encourage of the breeding of NON-STANDARD APBTs nor non-standard dogs of any breed. You can hate on me if you like, you already are, it doesn't bother me. Because at the end of the day I know I've done my part to help save this endangered breed, not done my part in ruining it.

Again, I never blame the dogs. They didn't asked to be born. I blame the people & their selfishness for it all.

And your right, let's get back to the original question: Why not get a true to form APBT & show it instead of breeding to get a whole other look just to put it in a show?

Nah buddy, watch your tone. Don't tell me to do sh#t. I asked a question and I got answers. Where is the speculation? People clearly said that they like these type of dogs because they liked the look of them and they can't handle a game bred dog. My question was simple enough and I got the answers. Regardless, of whether you like my methods of obtaining them or not. Mia did not give an answer to my question. She had made a comment pertaining to someone elses post. My replied statements where not in regards to Mia. They were directly in response to the posts of members who answered my question regarding their choice of dog.

I dont know what your experience is with these dos, but i have been around hundreds of them at shows and expos and bbqs and get togethers and have never been bitten. In fact I have wlak right up and pet most eery dog I have ever seen and have never had an issue. I dont know of anyone that tolerated a people bitter no matter what the circumstance. And a dog with a bad temperment can happen in any line, dont think that game dogs dont have dogs that have issues. I have a friend with a carson bitch that is a definate people blitter, I have been trying to convince him to put her down for a while now. It depends on the owners... you can make any dog bite a person. training and temperment go hand in hand. you can alter a dogs personlaity.

I"m sorry for my somewhat off-topic rant, but the original question remains. However, I will never be able to understand why someone changes an entire breed to make it fit a different purpose (like breeding just to show a dog & for a particular color only to forfeit every important apsect that made the breed what it was). If one does that, give it a new name (i.e. like the AST did). I understand dogs, not people..............

In all honesty, I wish I never started this thread as I know it will go nowhere. I started it because I got ticked off by someones post a while back and I did not think it through before starting it. I do agree that there can be man biters on both sides of the fence. However, I am strongly against people breeding dogs against standard or breeding them for the wrong reasons. I go overboard on this topic because I have a personal problem with improperly bred dogs for obvious reasons. I am sure that there are nice bully bred dogs out there but I will NEVER be ok with people calling them APBT. That will never change. I will always get angry when I hear people say that there bullys are the reason why I still have my dog and that there dog is more stable than mine. Take note that before these dogs became extremely popular and were bred for the wrong reasons on a majority scale, this breed was this countries mascot. I find it hard to believe that these fad dogs are not the majority of the problem when these fad dogs are the ones that the punks want and these are the same dogs I have seen so many problems with.

I never said I couldnt handle a gamedog. I can handle a gamedog. But I think dogs are happiest when they are with people. I prefer my dogs to be inside with me, and i think thats where they like to be. So its not a question of me "handeling" them, its a quesiton of me wanting to provide them with the happiest home I can. I can handle any breed of dog... I have owned and trained some of the most agressive and high energy dogs there are. but at the end of the day an APBT is my breed of choice.

  16. tommy3

    tommy3 CH Dog

But, you are getting dogs that have had the APBT bred out of them. There is a reason for that high energy and drive. It is a necessary trait of the breed.

If you don't like the high energy and drive, you don't like APBTs.

I am voting for Rodney King to run the threads so we can "all just get along". I have seen this fight way to many times and it is the same folks fighting it to no avail. You yeh you go raise the true pure breds an you yeh you over there go raise your show dogs and do not I repeat do not talk to each other unless you have something good to say. Dont make Marty have to out here and git on yer stubborn hides now.

Well Diesel, to get technical, I "own" 49 game bred APBTs (they are all registered in my name). 10 live with me along with my other breeds IN MY HOUSE. The remainder are splite b/n my brothers & 3 very close friends of mine. ALL of the dogs are inside in kennels when the people aren't there. My dogs all have their individual kennels in the spare rooms, all get turned out on tie-outs when I'm home, & all are rotated in & out my house so they can get individual attention, & all are walked every day. I hate to say it, but it's a cop out to say a game bred APBT can't be an inside dog. Many many known Ch.'s & Gr. Ch.'s were put into bed with the children at the end of the night.

Game dogs love being with their people, I read it over and over again....I'm not understanding, do you mean it would be difficult to have two game dogs in the house with you together?

Yup, alot, if not most, of the owners of game lines on this board has one or more dogs in the house. Mine stays inside. He is driven and as hyper as all hell.
You don't see these folks going out and buying lazy dogs to stay inside. Unless, they are from a different breed, of course. They love the breed and stay true to it.
