I personally have gotten some of the best Bulldogs I have ever fed right here on gamedog at a working mans price. I don't own a colby dog today. I like AGK's Bulldogs. I have a pair of 6 month old well bred Bulldogs from a local breeder. I tried to answer your questions . Take care.

Including reading, talking with local Dogmen, ect. Also once online pedigrees came available to me I would follow pedigrees back from Winning Bulldogs and most of the time it would take me back to the Colby yard. However, Colby dogs were very expensive and unless you knew the colby family they were not easy to get. This is why imo Colby hounds became more of an artifact that a match dog. That's a shame. But I reckon if you wait years to get one and you have to pay $900 for it even going back into the mid-2000s some folks weren't so quick to use them for there original origin of purpose . Instead a bragging rights dog or what have you. This I can say as fact, Louis did match his dogs. All match records were sealed because he was in fear of ending up in prison like so many of his friends did. John R Colby moved to Texas , Louis cleaned his yard up in a big way. Meaning any dogs that are scarred up or what not rehome them, as the powers that be were watching and showing up to check out yards through out the USA. So I understand that. Mr Wever had quality Colby hounds that were winners. I have to make this clear, I'm not a breeder . I'm not a Real Dog man . I'm a country boy who loves Bulldogs. I have gained some understanding about how important it is to stay out of the public eye. Louis Colby had Diane Jessup co-author his book. Why? She's a witness for the feds against Dogmen ! He did it to protect himself and his family. Before mr. Lewis Colby passed away he told me personally he said Son do not let these dogs take away your freedom. We are living in a different world so good involved in as many confirmation shows weight pulling wall climbing and everything you can get involved in this legal. No one wants to go to prison lose their family they're home and talk about the dogs that used to have. So are Bulldogs have been known to live 15 18 years not always ofcourse. Sodamy it's conceivable that some of the good old real pit dogs could still be a few around and Pockets here and there. But I am not on game dog to put any lineage of dogs on a pedestal I've outgrown that. I have a lot of respect for people that keep this breed true to its origin of purpose
And if it wasn't illegal in the United States we would see a lot more dogs Champion Grand Champion posted to the public it's a felony does strictly enforced and for that reason you're going to hear of dogs overseas in other countries a lot more these days and you would locally.

 

I hope you guys will cut me some slack here because I know nothing on Colby or his dogs, I always believed they was too far back in history for me to lake any notice of? I had an interest in Saint Benedicts Bailey for a while and noticed they was crossing 1/4 Colby into that blood, well I thought, Bailey's owner must have seen something in it?

Then I was talking to guy who kept Art/Kingfish dogs and he told me they was doing 3 different crosses with that blood now.. Clemmons, Mason's Hog and Colby! Once again I thought there must be some value to the Colby blood or surely they'd go with something else? Catalyst maybe? Any thoughts?
