Anyone know which year Pitbulls were first imported into Australia,by who and what lines the first ones were? I bought my first scatter bred bitch in 1991, Jeep and Reid lines. She topped out at over 60 lbs and one of her litter brothers reportedly hit 90 lbs.

One thing I hate is to be called a Liar "Wet behind the Ears" I mean "Young Sense". I have in front of me my first bitches American Dog Breeders Association INC 6 generation papers. Later on I'll get my son to post it on the net, I don't know how.For MISSAPBT interest here's the first 4 generations My bitch, Harvey's "Flo-Jo", Sire's side S-Aragon's "Jeep Cherokee", S-Garret's "Jeep Jr" D-Broadway's "Kelly" S- J. Crenshaw's "CH" Jeep"D- J Crenshaw's "Dolly" S-Chavis' "Toro" D- White's "Maple" S-Finley's "Bo" D- J Crenshaw's "Honey Bunch" S-J Crenshaw's CH "Otis"D J Crenshaw's "CH" "Honey Bunch" S- Kirby's "CH" "Yellow John"("Tants")D- Green's "Sandy" S- Irishman's "Hogger"D- Klines"Brick". Dams side Harvey's "Moo Moo" S- Evorall's "Ben" D- Evorall's "Bad Girl" S- Broadway's "Jack Frost" D- Terry's "Susie" S- Reid's "Red" D- Reid's Mizzie S- Hermes' "Dino" D- S Bar/B's "Chicago Dolly" S- J Crenshaw's "CH" Hurt" D- Holcomb's "Ginger" S- Reids "Rangitang" D- Reid's "Mini- Minnie"S-Reid's "Rangitang" D- Freeman's "Texas Minnie". I've typed this ped top to bottom if it doesn't seem to line up When I post the full ped it'll be clearer. This 60 lb plus bitch died at 18 months (suspected bait), I later purchased a pup from her white 70lb litter sister which topped out at 75lbs. All these weights are chain weights I'm not saying they were expert bred world beaters or even half-game, probably curs but they were big.

  6. from what iv'e heard Jeep/Redboy dogs and Sorrell dogs were among the first in the NT (don't know about aus) and still are the dominate lines up here with a little eli chucked in every now n again. Im not sure of the very first line to hit the NT alot of the history up here has been lost through clueless "dogmen" The majority of so called "Pure" pits in the nt are sorrells at the moment, the line has been flogged over the last few years up here(thanks to the over breeding).
    thats my 2cents

Here's some old photos of the dogs mentioned. The red bitch with the Bull Mastiff is 62 lbs taken in 1992. The black bitch with the kid is the 75 lb bitch (red bitch's niece) taken in 2000. Can't post 6 generation ped as my scanner isn't big enough, will try to have it minimised so I can post it at a later date.

Broadway's Jackfrost as you stated in the dogs ped was a bigger dog. Its a shame with this dog he is used in NZ to peddle any white dog. Along with Jeep.

Dogs of this size were common here in Oz in the early days of the breed here. Reid, jeep Jr, STPs CH Tag, all threw some very large dogs, among others. Youngsters who think this is lies because they've never heard this before, will doubt anything, and there's not much point telling them they're wrong, they know what they know. I've seen pure apbt here in Oz up to 105lbs lean. They were Reid/sorrels and bred for hunting. Similar to the bully's in the USA , but more athletic type. (nobody cared what color noses they had. Hahaha! ) most were brindle dogs. I wouldn't have owned one, but they exist, regardless of the opinion of certain know-alls. For those interested in the history of the dogs in Oz, try to track down copies of Australian + NZ magazines, 'Square Circle', 'Toe the Line', and 'Oz Warrior'. They've been out of print for some years now, so good luck. Just like the big dogs, they are out there somewhere!
