Folks are entitled to their opinions. I know plenty of folks who enjoy these hounds as just pets...many of whom claim to be dogmen. The difference though, is they know the capabilities of these hounds. You might luck up and raise a few together and have few problems. But taking one of these athletes to a dog park or store to shop is a big NO NO. You really have to exercise caution every time these hounds are out of cage or off their chain. I give this fella props that he recognizes and acknowledges the capabilities of these athletes. Because from experience and daily conversation with folks most have zero clue what they have. Advise would be downgrade to a different type of terrier that isn't as hard to control but keeps that awesome athleticism we all love. Good luck and hopefully you find a breed suitable. Gameness is the name of the game. Game bred terrier is exactly that no matter the type. So if it's a true terrier you should always experience those issues. Plenty of breeds make good pets. These are great companions...not sure if I'd consider them pets. At least those true to standard. If you don't breed these animals to their standard, no matter how out dated, then you will create an even worse problem. There is already an epidemic of peddlers and senseless breedings that hurt this fine animal. I've told many of folk. If you can't take the heat get out of the kitchen. Someday I'll be saying that to the man in the mirror. Until then I refuse to hold this breed to anything less than what I consider standard. Athletic smart and above all game.
