I've read where they are "dogs with class" but what are some other traits they have? How big do the generally run? Did they stay all night if they had to? I know a guy on here specializes in them and he can PM me if he wants to, I tried PMing him but they are turned off or unavailable or whatever. Just wanting to know more about them than they generally have red noses, yellow, amber or red eyes, and other useless info.

I agree with Willy but there are segments who are as good as any dogs produced today. I'm not talking about game dogs but pitdogs who win. It's not hard to figure out who has been the most successful in producing the most accomplished dogs in history!

Years ago i seen some dead game ofrn dogs all around good dog.do some research .some of todays top dogs trace back to the ofrn.today i believe most r bred for color .now that don't mean that a good 1 will not pop up every now and again as you will get good and bad in all blood lines i do not care what bloodline or dogs u breed and if any one say different then they have been around these dogs long enought to know what they are talking aboutjmo

No offense but that's a showdog and nothing working in the first 4 generations so it's probably already almost a amstaff.
Your dog does have great potential to do what it was bred to do and that is weightpull.
When I hear ofrn I can only think of 3 real bloodlines out there still surviving.

Another trait of the working ofrn strain is a good mouth

I don't really think anyone can make generalizations about the OFRN strain as a whole unless you're talking about color. Otherwise the dogs considered OFRN today are too diverse. Norrod's RedDevil dogs are very different than Wilder's Hemphill dogs and also Norrod's Hemphill dogs. Some of the OFRN lines have been peddled to shit, some isn't bad, and some is great depending on what you're looking at. Then of course there's the dogs of old Richard Stratton tells of in his writing from Bob Hemphill, Lightner, Wallace, and Feeley, which are only found as names written in pedigrees way back. And don't forget about the speculation of Redboy actually being OFRN too.

I think its hard to say anything that's true about all of the dogs mentioned except that I think they look kinda cool. But that's just opinion, not fact.

The OFRN dogs that came directly from Ireland are/were known to have good wind and generally ran about 40-45#, though there have been a few 30# dogs. Most of them sat at 50-55 on the chain, but pit weight were normally 40-45 and their wind is their most famous trait.

The OFRN were known to have a lot of wind and when matched into each other, they could go 2 hours+. Unfortunately, a lot of them have been bred out the ass for only a pretty pedigree etc. There are still many good ones out there if you look hard enough.
