hey im not on the caliber of some to make an" expert "assessment to a degree.but ill say it seems that they maybe knew that they could be pushing him to far.The fact that he was ahead under those circumstances i would have picked him up and been proud to own him another day.Not saying im right cause i wasnt there its just my feelings

@ Congoman, why he would have agreed at least with the draw, for your dog !.
He was down his weight, he been de-hydrated and reaching the 3 hr mark.
Steven's ego to get to Crenshaw was bigger at that time then to think about his dog.
But i am sure a man like Mr Steven's had sore feelings about this in his entire life and do not think he would trust a man again that quick with a dog after this.
I know i would not trust another person with my dog, they have nothing to lose if it is your dog but money :rolleyes:

 

It is a shame that so many mistakes were made. To be honest, Jeep's victory was tainted and I think on other circumstances, Homer would've curred Jeep out. However, I'm doubting the story about Angus quitting in a yard fight. Angus has always been regarded as one of the finer bulldogs and there has to be a reason to this. I doubt he'd quit to a dog in a yard fight.

 

A big show like that back then there would be no way I would have picked up. And there wpuld be now way I would lend my animal out. Not an animal like that. And I wouldn't pick up if I'm about to stop this big time animal in a hog hunt.

 

I can see Angus quitting. It was a female on male for one. Also why didn't they breed Angus a lot???? I wouldn't breed him either after he shut it down.

 

What does opposite sex have anything to do with the situation? Also what do you mean by they didn't breed him a lot? The dog is a ROM, he wasn't bred out the ass but still bred a lot. Also Angus defeated a brother to O.Steven's Homer. The only reason why they didn't hook him into Jeep was because he got wrecked in the chest area by Ruby twice during the yard fight. The way I heard it also never mentioned Angus running from Ruby, it mentions Angus and Ruby being seperated.

 

It does mention, he says how he returned home and seen angus but couldnt understand why they Feared GrCh was still not in hold but able to walk up to him,he seen Ruby going apeshit, he thru Angus to Ruby and she grabbed him and started diggin into him but Angus got away.. That is why they went and got Homer.. Also that story about Homer only having 3 weeks is bullshit.. In Ozzie own story he said he didnt find out til 3 weeks were left that Homer wasgoing into Jeep.. So he just found out 3 weeks not that Homer only had 3 weeks of keep.. Also he should have worked Homer,and if not he should have been there to make sure "his" Ch was worked properly. if he didnt find out til 3 weeks were left then he should have went down and did atleast the last 3 weeks of the keep..Jeep win isnt tainted..They dontknow if one is in peak shape or hog fat.. They dont know if its a Ch or first time out.. Jeep beat another Ch just like he beat 2 Ch before homer... Some will or wont find opposite sex as hard but Redboy did beat a bitch for one of his wins.. Angus isnt a ROM and wasnt heard of after the Ruby yard accident.. Hell he didnt even go back out after that..It was plenty of dogs there around that weight..

 

Why match a Gr. Ch. Again anyway? There isnt a need he's already a Gr. Ch.
More imprtantly look at Angus' offspring. He as bred to Ruby at some point before the yard accident so he more then likely knew he was just pussy. I have a male that will try and grab anything unless you back a female up to him ass first in heat. Now once he's bred to he he wont ever show any aggression to her again. Regardless of how she acts.

He had no problem duking it out wit her the first timethey got into each other so no excuse the 2nd time.. Why match a GrCh after he made GrCh? To become immortal.. When you get to 7 and 8 you are putting you hound in a class of its own.. They dont stop at GrCh so they can seperate them from the rest.. then DBL GRCH Tornado would not be, GrCh 8x Queen of Hearts would not be.. GrCh 7x Dynomite would not be.. They all just be GrCh.. I mean for all that then you can just stop at 1x.. if you got a hound who didnt take much damage and still in his prime why not take him to his full potential? Some need not go further than 1 or 3 or 5 but some have what it takes to get to the next level of greatness..

 

Thats just an ego trip at best. After you've reached Gr. Ch. you have absolutely no reason to bring your bulldog out anymore. Only way he would come out again after that should be against only other Gr. Ch. in my opinion. Going into other dogs of lower "rank" proves absolutely nothing. I know that title has little to do with ability as all dogs start with a clean slate but unless your going into another Gr. Ch. you cant know if your going into a dog worth the risk. And thats all speculation of whether or not he minded the first time. Shit for all we know he could have fought her the first time, her come in heat he breed to her then get off his chain for the second time and think "ooooweeee im fixin to get some pussy" just to get showed different. Im just sayin you cant judge a dog by how they act against the opposite sex. He may have fought back long enough just to get loose. Not all males want or will fight a bitch. It isnt always black and white with these dogs like people pretend. If I wouldve owned him "back when matching was legal" I wouldve tested him after that (with males) and seen where his heart was at. Oh can you send me a ped to Gr. Ch. Dynomite? I dont think Ive ever heard of him.

 

This story makes me angry as fuck:mad:. Sad ending for a great dog. Good read though.

 

I think it depends on the quality of the matches as well. What if all 5 of your wins for a dog's gr. ch. were to dogs that were 1 and 2xws while another dog's ch. were to other ch's and gr.ch's? Which would you say is the better dog? Also what if the latter won in let's say an hour plus and was behind previously, while the former won in under 20 mins. and his opponents were curs? I don't think quantity matters as much, or titles. It is the dog's quality. But I agree with you that some dogs need not go beyond 1, but others can be taken to greater heights in terms of quantity.

 

New school I agree bro..and I think not only was worth it but Crenshaw was worth it.. They beat Ch Otis so JC went and got Ch Jeep who had 2ch nd a 2x under his own belt.. Jeep vs Angus was for the Ch of Chs the heavyweight belt of the world.. That's is what made it worth it. It wasn't ego it was my best vs your best who both are in an opportunity to be legends. Dogs like Bolio, Jeremiah, Pit General, abraham bull..etc are all dogs who were considered good or great and able to go for more after their 1x or 2x but for ehatever reason they didn't and people always wonder and say they had potential but we never know.its not always ego its sometimes just taki you and your hound to greater heights.. Ever have a 2x or 4x? Ask anybody with a 5x they will tell you its greatest thing ever but ask em how much we think and dream about seperatin our hound from others to be a 6 or 7 or 8x.. Its what the heart of them hounds would want.. Long as you are facing the best you can..

 

can you explain why you would not pick up. to me it makes no sense to leave a losing dog down. now i will not even look at this from a comationate poin of view but from an enterttainment point of view. when a dog has no chance to me that shit is just straight fuckin boring on that fact alone i would pick up who in there right mind thinks it is exciting to watch a dog lay the fuck down, while the other doig is still kicking from a competitive and sporting point of view it makes no sense.

 

i agree with most of this i mean if you have the heavyweight belt in boxing only the best gets a chance at that belt plain and simple and i have had male and female dogs that wouldn't go all out on the opposite sex idk weird but true

 

I just dont see a dog like Angus who was considered damn near untouchable by some of the best. Getting off his chain and running into a smaller female on her CHAIN and then getting curred. A dog on the chain is automatically at a huge disadvantage not to mention her being a smaller dog. It just doesnt add up. I think if anything Stepp lied about Angus and Ruby for fear of losing his dog to Jeep and Crenshaw. Then he probably did what a hell of a lot of guys back in the day did and bred him under a different name so he wouldnt be breeding a "CUR".

 

Size had nothing to do with it.. Ch Ruby was a complete monster and feared by many a dogmen. She probably could of beat Jeep n Homer also...
