This little girl came into rescue as a Patterdale. I've never handled them before and wasn't sure if they were accurate on her breed guess, not that you can really be sure with a rescue but I was curious as to what some folks with experience with the breed thought. She's 20 pounds but came from California and I had read that they run bigger in the western US. She seemed a little snippy in the muzzle and fine boned in the legs, but I know there can be some variation within the breed. It's hard to see, but she's got a hint of tan on the sides of her face which almost made me think Manchester Terrier. Well, whatever she is, she is a fiesty little bugger. Pulls like a little bulldog when you walk her! lol She's already getting nice and ripped since these pictures were taken. :)

Nice1. I can definatly see why you thought Manchester Terrier, but only part? She looks Patterdale terrier to me.Mine's black but in the sunlight she's got a red tint. They call this Bronze.Good luck with her.

Thanx for the input Pits+Patts. :) Ya... I didn't think if she had Manchester she'd be full.... I thought maybe a mix of the two, but again, I've never handled any dogs besides bull and terriers so I was pretty well just throwing ideas out there as a total newbie to terriers! lol They did have her pegged as a pure bred with the rescue she was from. She is a really sweet little girl, seems to bond quickly with people but no fear of anything. She always seems ready to take on the world! lol I never thought I'd find a breed that I liked as much as bull and terriers but I think I'm hooked on these guys! lol

plenty of patts with tan and tan/black. Even 'read' of white inbred nuttal patts. I would worry more on height. His head look like gould type.

Hey Zoe,love the way you use the term Bull and Terriers. This is what i'd call Patterdales with a lot of bull blood.Straight bull+terriers.I used to keep pitbullterriers and love the similarity between the two.I never thought i'd find a breed so alike.Takecare.

Funny that Blackpoison, ive heard lots of strange things happening with in-bred Nuttall dogs.eg:pin-heads,webbed feet.Anyone else got any info?My Patterdale came from a litter of six where there were three different types-2roughcoat/fell type,2stocky staff type,2shortcoat Nuttall type. Both parents jet black but one of the stocky pups was black+tan, more red.I think peaple would say she was scatter-bred,not bred to type?My Mates got a cracking Nuttall x Gould dog,i'll post a picture.

Ya... she's pretty tall, again a thing that made me wonder. She's about 16 inches at the shoulder....

Ya... it tends to confuse alot of people around here. They usually think I'm refering to English Bull Terriers. lol

    No doubt.

I was just looking up some Gould dogs and ya... she does look alot like them. I even saw some with short docked tails like hers. Her dock just looks wrong so to me though. lol

Its bang out of order to dock a tail that short.Working dogs need their tails docked to prevent injury.Tests have been done to determine whether it is just to dock working dogs tails and it was proved so.Its said when docking you should leave a good hands worth of tail as sometimes this is all you've got to pull the dog out of a hole!Might sound a bit rough but the dog doesn't mind? Also a bitch uses it to cover her privates when a male comes sniffing about!Docking a tail that short is just wrong! It dont make her any less pretty though.

I was actually just reading about that concept and it makes complete sense to me. Even just aesthetically it makes her look unbalanced. Oh well... not much can be done about it now! lol

Gaud... I wish I could work this little girl. She's really starting to settle in now and spark up. We went for a long morning walk and she was just rarin' to go at the squirrels and birds! lol City life really sucks sometimes. lol
