Hello, before I describe my puppy's problem, I want you to know that we've been to 5 different vets, dermatologist, emergency room and her primary vet, now I'm going online to see if anyone has seen this before.

Female, 9 week old Pitbull, 12lb, intact.

She has sores all over her body, today I discovered two the size of dimes.

    Saturday Night,

Had fever, threw up her food. (nothing yellow, just her food)

    Sunday

We took her to the emergency room and had a fever. No test done, just antibiotics and steroids, the vet said he didn't know and that it was a puppy thing, refused to give us a dermatologist referral.

    Monday Morning

During the night the puppy had a fever so we went to the primary vet, she said in her 22 years she had never seen anything like it, did skin scrape and nothing came up, she didn't know and told us to keep giving her the antibiotics, steroids and Benadryl.

    Monday Night

I noticed blood in her nose, took her to a different emergency room, the vet was stomped, took photos and asked her colleagues, no one knew, the have ran blood work, nothing came up, did emergency referral to dermatologist. (Nose bleed was for a lesion on her nose, not internal blood)

    Wednesday

Dermatologist checked for mites did cytology and nothing. No bacteria, no yeast, nothing. The dermatologist doesn't think it is food related because her immune system is too immature, so what is it? She though it was a reaction to her first puppy vaccine and upped her steroids, nothing, the dumps keep showing up. She is incredibly itchy. Today I put a cone do she can't lick. We've been everywhere, spent over 1k in less than a week. Now we're planning on taking her to a veterinary school to see if they know what could be the problem.

If you've seen this before please help us. Thank you.

Poor pup maybe it is impetigo.

I don't think it is impetigo, because of the cytology that came back negative to bacteria or yeast.

Looks external not an internal issue.

I would check bedding and where it sleeps. Possible food allergy but doubtful.

Get a 12oz bottle of isopropyl alcohol and pour out a couple ounces.

Mix in two taplespoons of boric acid.

The 12-14 drops of genetian violet.

It will be a purple color and stains some sort of terrible. Wear gloves. Keep the puppy off anything it can ruin.

The alcohol will act as a carrier. The boric acid will lower the PH (far better effect than antibiotics, especially if the issue is fungal). The genetain violet will serve as a topical.

Best skin medicine I have ever used. Works on pretty much everything.

Since you are searching I would even try one of the over the counter yeast infection medicines.

This will delve into gram negative and gram positive as well as fungal vs. bacterial.

A soothing oatmeal shampoo will ease things a bit to for the puppy.

    Best of luck.

Thank you for your response. Last night i threw out my bedsheets just in case, because she sleeps with me and today she is in lock down for a week, she cannot go outside and neither can her two other sisters, just incase it is something outside. Fingers crossed that it will work. I will also give your remedy a try!

I'd start with dish soap/ rubbing alcohol/ milk and water bath then 70%h20/30%ACV spray down make sure it's getting a lot of sunlight throughout the day. Get you some pre/probiotic from tsc. Spray down with 90%h20/10% bleach more sunlight then apply coconut oil. Start feeding raw chicken, chicken feet, calf liver and alkaline water .

  7. follow slim 2 advice , but what puzzles me is the widespread effect of it which makes me think its
either a severe reaction to anitbiotics and or other stuff

I once gave a dog a flee dip and and a vitamine b12 shot the reaction was insane for 5 minutes
I dont think its one of those tropical diseases they dont act this fast

I had to order some of the ingredients online, while I wait for them to arrive I was told about 1/3 listerine, 1/3 baby oil and 1/3 water, has anybody heard of this? I just applied it to my dog.

The only thing, I'm starting to think is that it might have been a shampoo I used before she broke out, I used Veterinary Formula Clinical Care, its supposed to be hypoallergenic, but she broke out a day after I used it. I don't know. I'm trying everything though. She has been like this for a little over a week. I don't know if a puppy can keep breaking out after an allergic reaction to a shampoo, maybe the residue? I don't know.

I'm thinking in addition to treating the external symptoms, ifimay be worth the effort to build the pups immune system which starts with the gut. More than a few methods out there I presume - but raw goat's milk, or unpasteurized yogurt is loaded with probiotic bacteria and easier digested than kibble or meat. I've done so with pups I've bred with good results. FWIW..
