I actually crop ears cause they are one more thing to get injured when hunting...
ben...that red hots stuff goes back to ofrn, then theres the obv. up front...he is more ofrn than you wanna give credit for.

Red Devil, agreed. I like dogs with a lil more size..just a personal choice for hunting...not because its a "FAD"

he has a red nose and is 12% OFRN genetics. am i the only one who has heard of the mastiffs crossed into the Camelot dogs? Dodue de Bordeauxs, and they have red noses too frank. check out Castle King, they claim to be runnin camelots, but obviously have allowed alot more infusion of the mastiff in their dogs.

briarpatch im fully aware of how to read a ped lol. that's how i came up with the conclusion that ain't a OFRN dog. dose that make it a bad dog NO it is what it is. up front lol there's 12% up front & 12% of the genetics is nothing. i probably have 12% of "dibo" in my blood but that don't make them "dibo" bloodline. & just because you think your dog is a good dog. don't mean it's good because of the 12% of OFRN gene because that don't contribute anything more then the ink on the ped dose. the most important dogs on a ped is the first 4 generation. if it's a good dog then it's because of them.

Nice looking dog BP, I hope he works out welll for you. I love pic threads, keep us posted as he matures but for now, seems to be in great health.

As for working a dog too early, I think that at 7 months, playing with the flirt pole is just fun and probably very healthy. LOL, I think you probably ok to toss a tennis ball for him to :)

    he destroys tennis balls Rick..LOL...
woody castle kings does claim that but it is painfully obvious by LOOKS alone that their dogs have a " chipmunk in the wood pile" ..thats why I say you cant judge the line based on what a few bafoons have done to and with it. Dusty of swamp dog ( the guy who owned KGB and carried his blood foward) heavily hunted his dogs, and only bred dogs that would hunt. the line when bred right with the right crosses produces good dogs. I dont like it heavily inbred, presents too many flaws but I dont mind having it in there.

ben - i know you know how to read a ped. liek I said I never said he is pure ofrn..quite obvious he isnt by ped. but he is definately more OFRN in type than one would be lead to believe by his pedigree.:p

briarpatch what I don't understand is the reasoning behind your conclusion. saying the dog is more OFRN type then the rest of his genetics? have you seen all the dogs in the first 4 generation ? maybe the OFRN was nothing but a cur dog. & the camalot stuff was hard as hell. briarpatch im only helping you understand ped & how you use them as a tool. don't takeaway from the dogs in that ped because they good enough to make you happy enough to feed that pup.

i have researched into ALL the dogs in his 4, I have seen pictures, discussed temperment and ability....THAT is why I say he is more OFRN type than you would expect. I dont say things just to say them IF I say a dog is or can do or is more remenescent of this that or the other, you can take that s*it to the bank.
Im very aware of what information to gather from a pedigree and how to use it to my benefit. I own his mother so I can tell you undoubtedly the only thing remnant of the top half of his ped is his thick bone other than that...he is his mothers son.

im not takin anything away from any of the dogs. the linebred kojack on top provided exactly what it was intended to, more bone and it kept the intelligence level the same. Very smart dogs up top and bottom.
The pup his self is what makes me happy enough to feed him. :)

for the record the OFRN and REDHOT dogs are consistant in TYPE, all built veyr similar, similar size, similar structure and same in ability and "go". The "camelot" up to of course is consistant in type, its heavily line bred. size, structure and ability. dogs more suited for trial work, ie IRON DOG and SCH work.
