Agreed. In my opinion he is the greatest boxer of all time. At the same time it would be a stretch for him to get into the Top 10 fighters of all time.

I call it boring, and have never been a fan, but he is the best at what he does. And when he applies his craft no one regardless of approach has been able to beat him.

It is an interesting thought but I do not see it ever actually happening.

He is a very skilled boxer. I wouldnt say the greatest of all time but specially skilled just the same. What keeps him away from the top fighters of all time is lack of killer instinct he doesn't go for the finish when I am sure in many cases he could of. But that's smart boxing. Some of the greats in my books are Joe Louis, Jack Dempsey, Marvin Hagler, Sugar Ray Robinson, Julio Cesar Chavez, Joe Frazier, Mike Tyson ec. to name a few they all had a nice finish and won most there fights by K.O. But they all eventually had losses. I can't see s prime Mayweather do very well against a prime Sugar Ray Robinson. Robinson was just as skilled if not more than Mayweather in every way and he was a finsher. It would of been nice to see him fight guys like that or Thomas Hearns/Ray Leonard/Emile Griffen/Roberto Duran to see how great on the scale of Greatness Mayweather actualy is. Very gifted athlete that comes around every decade or so not trying to take anything away from him I have just watched to many old fights.

I agree 100%. I think Mayweather is the greatest boxer of all time. But I don't think he factors into the Top 10 of the greatest fighters of all time. All the names you mentioned were great fighters, great boxers as well, but had the finish and the ability/desire to trade hands. Mayweather has had the ability to avoid trading hands nor the desire to change his game plan. That to me makes him not only the best boxer ever, but one of the best boxing minds as well.

He never gets hit flush, and he always hits from the best angles to not get countered. Sugar Ray Robinson is before my time but I would have love to have seen the pursuit put on my Caesar Chavez. Chavez had the foot work and the ring savvy to cut the ring off. I'm not sure if Hearns or Hagler could catch him. A young Duran maybe. With Chavez and Duran Mayweather would need a fresh horse after every round.

But at the same time I say that, it is still about winning. And he has won and beated any and everything put in front of him. Personally I would not pay to see him because that style of boxing is boring to me, but I do still consider him the best boxer ever.

Even with two years removed I see so much separation between he and Connor.

Now you're talking box bulldog. Boxing Legends. Hagler and Sugar Ray and Joe Louis and Joe Frazier and Ken Norton a heavy hitter Breaking Ali's jaw and Mike Tyson. I also remember Sugar Ray Leonard interviewing Mike Tyson after fighting George Foreman Mike Tyson tow Sugar Ray to his face he would fight him too Sugar Ray just Smiled.

If Roy Jones Jr would havw retired after beating John Ruiz I think he arguably would be considered the best ever...besides Rocky Marciano and Mayweather;)

Marciano was a good fighter and will always be remembered as such because he retired young and never lost. But if you look at his record most of his wins were over so so fighters or fighters past there prime. Archie Moore was a light heavyweight and he put the Rock down. Joe Walcot also put Rocky down. When Joe Louis fought him he was 37 years old way past his prime and was fighting Rocky for nothing more than money. If you look at the old tapes of Rocky he was a alright boxer a kind of bob and weave style a great puncher he called his right hand suzy cue. A prime Joe Louis would of made short work of Rocky in my opinion. Rocky may have not of been the most skilled but he had a great will, good chin, great power and endurance and conditioned as good as any fighter that ever laced on a pair of gloves. I am not trying to take anything away from the Rock he fought the best at the time it was just a slow time in the heavy weight division. To tell the truth I think very highly of him and when I use to box I would study fights of him and try and learn some of his tricks to get inside. A very game boxer!

I think Hearns, Hagler, or Sugar Ray Leonard would have been good fights for Floyd. Hearns was my favorite til I saw Tyson fight. The ferocity that Mike landed with was like watching cartoons when I was a kid. He would hit guys and they would just fall, all that was missing was the noises they make when trees/bombs fall. Duran was relentless but I think Floyd could have out beat him. All these fight would have been hard cuz those guys threw hard combos when they caught you. Floyd is more of a pot shotter. Chavez would have had a really good chance too.

I think Roy relied too much on his athletic advantages rather than "getting better." He trained like a beast im sure, but after he was the man he was droppin songs on his own rap label... I'm not sayin he wasn't training, just not as focused. I loved Roy!!! He had hounds, birds, AND he was the truth!! My kinda countryboy!!! I wonder what lines Roy was runnin or did he just breed them from what worked for him?? Anybody ever heard about Roy's dogs??

A lot of his dogs were out of Krazyside Kennels.

Roy is another example of too much on the professional athletes plate. Not saying Nascar racers are great athletes but a guy comes along and he dominates. He is the next great thing. He becomes great. The money rolls in and the first inclination is to buy his own team. His driving results soon fade.

Roy Jones Jr, the same. He had so much going on with the rapping, a lot to with the dogs and even more so with the birds, every now and then he had to find time to train/fight.

When Jones Jr. was announcing on HBO or Showtime, which ever he worked for, he was talking about the fight and the demise from dominance by Mike Tyson. His comment was , "Some dogs just can't fight from the bottom". I thought it was classic as only a small percentage of the world really understood what he said while a large percentage thought dogs was slang for man. Classic.

I was a big fan as he came to fight. Boxing skills well above average, heart and physicality could not be questioned. In comparison to MMA I would put him along the lines of Wandelei Silva. Both well worth the PPV as someone was going to lay down come hell or high water.

My ex brother in law was big into the birds, 2nd and 3rd generation in the birds. His partner flew to the Phillipines once and attended a show. It was a place three times the size of a basket ball court with pits and drag pits all over. The small arena was sold out. He had really nice box seats. He was snapping pictures left and right.

A few years later he was showing the pictures and there sat Jr. with a handful of cash betting with the locals.

Jr. had a rooster named Red Alert or Red Action or something like that, it has been a long time, a trio off him was like $750 to $1000 dollars back then. Hatching eggs off him were $100/dz.

He once had a fight cancelled or postponed to injury. I can't remember how it was listed but the word was it was handling birds and got cut on the hand.

Slim said Krazyside. I remember him telling a story once on tv about his dogs. One of his favorite dogs bit his sister while he was out. His dad killed/shot the dog and him a Jr got into it. Said he didn't speak to him for yrs I think, I know it was a good while.

Not to incriminate or dry snitch.....
