Largest catch weight dogs

Discussion in 'Dog Discussion' started by Speedpeddler, Jan 29, 2010.

  1. I'm a fan of the smaller size dogs in the 35 to 45 lb range but sometimes see some nice 50 to 65 lb dogs I like as well. That got me wondering about just how big a conditioned catch weight dog has ever been successful. I've never seen an 80+ lb, conditioned, game bred bulldog before and was wondering if they even exist and if anyone has any pictures.

The europeans like to match bigger dogs.... whether it be a pit or not ....IMO no real quality by going with the biggest

  7. Think I saw that vid too. Was very impressed with that apbt as he was very big, athletic, and powerful. Appeared to be well conditioned as well. Completely owned that larger Dogo. That being said, I thought it was classless to subject that Dogo to such a beatdown. Clearly he was overmatched and wanted out well before the match was called. Surprised if he lived.

We have had a few big pure APBT, but we had to look long and hard to find them and even then they seldom produced what they were. Most produced dogs considerably smaller...more like their parents or siblings. On a few occations we did get some big pure APBTs. Here are some of the "big" APBT we owned.
Snaps was a ligit 70+# bitch.

Her son was a lean 80+#er, but his siblings were about 20-25# lighter than him.

If you want a giant dog, then you will be best picking another breed...something like a Swinford Bandog.
