OK, questions here ... everyone was supposedly at work. So who knows what really happened?? Who's to say what the lady said wasn't true? Maybe the pit bull (or the boxer) did stick their head through a hole in the fence & the boxer got pulled into the yard & mauled.

As for the PB having another dog he could get to, so what?? I know of many PBs who will tolorate their housemate, but will attack a strange dog at a drop of a hat. So if the boxer poked it's head through, it is very possible the PB could have attacked it & drug it though as stated.

Or on the other hand, if the PB poked his head through the hole like she said it did, the boxer may have bitten it, a fence fight ensued & the PB dragged the boxer through the fence to finish the job.

But even if that is the case, you can't blame the boxer, as most dogs will defend their property. So I would not find it unsual for a dog to bite the face of a strange dog who pokes it's head through the fence.

Furthermore, where did this idea that boxers are "vicious" come from??? That's the biggest load of baloney I have ever heard. I have met many boxers & all of them were very nice dogs to both ppl & animals. I did meet one that was a little over protective of his family, but I would no way call him "vicious."

As for the boxer eating her pups, again, that does NOT make her vicious. It is not unsual for a bitch to eat her pups if the pup is sick or she is nervous. In fact I have heard of many, many more cases of PBs eating pups than I have any other breed & we all know the average PB is NOT vicious.

I think there is more here than meets the eye. Just as all the PB haters like to automatically assume we are all guilty, we on the other hand as PB lovers like to assume all our dogs are spotless little angels who could do no wrong.

I hate to break your bubble folks but this is not the case. As I heard it said once, no matter how flat you make a pancake, there are ALWAYS two sides ...

    JMHO ...

Sorry to hear about that. This is why I keep my dogs inside when I am gone and all kenneled up. You can't trust anyone. Anyone can also just toss some poisoned food for your dogs because they know it's a pit bull. luckily animal enforcement in my area openly states on their web site that breed discrimination is not allowed in my county. They also have told me personally if my dogs tear apart the neighbors cats that I will not be held liable for anything. The way I see it if a cat or dog comes onto your property your dogs are not responsible for what happens to them. Last I checked there are no laws saying a dog can not defend itself on its property. I also would like to know who gave them permission tot ake the dog usually they must give you 24 hours assuming the dog was safely confined. It all sounds messed up I think you can get justice take pictures of the fence of which direction the hole started and gather any evidence to back you up.

Just wanted to chime in and say sorry for your loss..

Also, would never recommend anyone to antifreeze an animal. That may be the worst way I've seen a dog die. My oldest female (Hollywood) was poisoned with anti freeze about a month ago. Never ever ever ever poison a dog like that!

BTW we also had a problem with our neighbors because their chihuahua mix got into our yard and got mauled. They wanted to say it was our fault but the hole in the fence was only big enough for a small dog to get through. Wrong yard for that thing. Now one of my females is dead, though. So... we haven't confronted them yet but I think their son hates my dogs.

I am so sorry for your loss. I would talk to a lawyer. Also ABK I HAVE met a quite a few very vicious Boxers in my dealings with them. I have also met sweet ones. So just like most breeds you can have either or.

VERY sorry to be reading about this. and i agree, i have handled some pretty nasty boxers in my time. ANY breed has the propensity to be dangerous/violent.

that being said, i'm sad about your loss, and i all can hope for is the truth to be exposed and the rightful justice served.
i would contact a lawyer as well~doesn't hurt to see exactly what your rights are.
    BEST of luck to you.
    and again, VERY sorry.

You know what ,I will probably get banned for this shit but I just dont give a fuck. How dare you .You dont know what the fuck you are talking about."The hole was not even big enough for Bruiser to fit through much less two dogs at once.I never said boxers as a breed are vicious ,just these ones. And i'ts not so much the dog fight as it is the fact that they found my dog guilty based on one crazy bitch's lies. The point is ,the dog should not have been put down without a trial first. That is the law here.I never said my dog was an angel ,he may have tore that other dog up,but the point is It was on his property. That is the fucked up part of the whole mess, the neighbor admitted her dog went into the yard, animal control found her dog in the yard. But instead of taking both dogs in they just assume it was the pit bull take him ,kill him and it's done. The dog did not drag the dog into it's yard that is the stupidest shit I've evr heard,Also ,these particular neighbors are so paranoid they have cameras all around their house, but miraculously when my brother went over there this morning to ask her about any recording of the fight, that particular camera was broken.Yeah fucking right. So you know what my fucking dog just got killed for no reason and you are here talking shit very nice. Why dont you take your "baloney" and shove it in your fucking mouth so we dont have to listen to it!

They do have the right to seize a an animla they might think is dangerous, but ,they are suppposed to hold the animal for 72 hours before ant action is taken to give the owner time to claim it.They are using the whole bit about Bruiser digging under the fence and pulling the dog through into his yard then mauling it.That is about the stupidest shit I've ever heard. There werre four other dogs back there too ,why would he have just grabed one and taken it back into his yard the whole thing is ludacris especially considering the size of the hole.We will be talking to a lawyer on monday. We really arent trying to go after the neighbor so much as A.C. due to the fact they killed him as soon as they got back to the shelter with him. They have been sued over this exact thing before ,so we'll see what happens.

Do you have a camera? Is the hole still there?

When a dog digs, it throws the dirt behind it so if there is a pile of loose dirt on the neighbors side of the fence it shows her dog dug the hole. If it's on your brothers yard, Bruiser did the digging.

It would help your case if you could have pictures proving who's dog did the digging....

Just an added thought. A dog that is chained away from a fence can't be blamed for anything.....

They have been known to do this fairly often.A couple summeers ago A man brought a law suit against the city because they picked up his 12 year old lab while he was at work.Just like with us,he got home that same day and found a note on his door, when he went to get his dog it was too late.It was really sad to see this grown man on t.v. crying over his dog. There was a big outrage about it and he did win his law suit ,but all he got was the 500$ he paid for his dog.In the end he donated the money to the Humane society(different org than the A.C. here).

They were both digging.Thats why it's so fucked up,this is not a case of innocent dog attacked by vicious pit bull.It is two dogs got into a fight and the owner didnt want to take responsiblitie for her dog .So they got into a fight, dogs do that.If they had to take my dog for quarantine, fine. But,they should have taken both dogs. Both fought, both were guilty. It just so happens one dog is pit bull so they dont give a damn about the truth and just assume it was all the pit bulls doing. And that Bitch kknows damn well her dog was just as guilty but instead of taking resposabilitie she makes up some ridiculous story to save her owm ass from having to pay for her dogs vet bills. If she would havr just told the truth I would have taken her dog to my clinic along with Bruiser and got them both fixed up.Dogs fight, shit happens, and a lesson is learned by all. Both parties would be more carefull about their dogs in the future. But she saw a pit bull and a chance to play a dramatic victim role.

Chloe: How dare I what? How dare I bring up legitimate questions instead of kissing your butt w/ "Oh, poor you" condolances?

The fact of the matter is, if Bruiser was chained or kenneled this would have never happened. As a previous poster said, leaving a PB free in a backyard is just inviting trouble b/c even if another dog comes into the yard, the PB will be blamed - just like it has been here.

But a dog securely contained - i.e. chained or kenneld in a fenced backyard - is not likely to be blamed.

Some poeple look at me like I am crazy but my guys are in a privacy fenced back yard, in kennels & on chains IN those kennels! That way:

    1. they are not going to escape

    &

    2. I am going to get blamed for any mess.

But where was Bruiser?? Not on a chain. Not in a kennel. From what I understand of your posts, he was loose in the backyard left to get into trouble, which is exactly what he did. And from what I understand of your posts he was running loose w/ 4 other dogs?? That is asking for double helping of trouble.

And speaking of the other dogs, again, that means little. I have seen & even owned PBs who will live pleasantly w/ a housemate but fight a strange dog. So the fact that Bruiser had other dogs in the yard w/ him carries zero weight w/ me.

Now I don't know exactly what went down as I was not there, but I have seen PBs drag other dogs through holes so small I wouldn't have believed it had I not seen it.

Then when a fight breaks out one dog will get on another then the other dogs who are in the yard join in & get on the down dog.

But anyway ... as a previous poster has said - has the hole been examined? How about the fence? Both will show who dug where.

As for the boxer comment, you were right, I misread what you wrote. I thought you said "boxers have a history of attacking each other" not "THE boxers have a hisotry of attacking each other." For that I apologize.

Now I do agree there should have been a holding time as well as a hearing to see what exactly went down. But the fact is - & we all know this - as PB owners we are guilty until proven innocent. Bruiser should have been more securely kept. He wasn't & he was killed as a result. Bad? Yes. By all means. But we should not be all squalling "poor me" when this could have been prevented. :(

And BTW, I hope your bro DOES sue the AC office. They need to learn a lesson too!

Cynthia & Suki: I am sure there ARE some mean boxers out there. But as you noted there are mean dogs in every breed. But as a whole I would not call the boxer breed "vicious."

    JMHO ...

I was responding to the way you worded this phrase. The way it came across to me was that Boxers are never vicious. If I took it wrong I aplogize. I was just pointing out that I have dealt with probably 100s of boxers in and out of work and I have dealt with ALOT if HA ones. And honestly I would say it is about a 60/40 split that 60% were friendly and the rest were HA. That is just my experience.

Now as far as the situation in a whole. Yes mistakes were made on both parts. But AC should not have euth a dog off top. That is the problem I have. 2 dogs got in a fight. Dogs no human was hurt (from what I read). That is not a reason to euth a dog.
