Kid for adoption......

I thought this would make a few of you guys and gals laugh, and possibly brighten your day. My poor dogs have had pure hell today, thanks to my son. But they love him none the less. I wouldn't trade my son, or my dogs, for ANYTHING in the world.

"Kid for adoption. 3 years old, up to date on shots. All paperwork in hand. Great with all people. I'm rehoming him because he's too aggressive with my pitbulls."

    *sigh*

I hate to be the a-hole here, but that is INCREDIBLY foolish & irresponsible. No dog should be sat on, ridden or jumped on, have it's fur, ears or tail pulled or it's eyes poked, let alone be flipping bitten! Lord have mercy!

And before anyone who engages in any of this foolishness say "I know my dog, he has a rock solid temperament!"

#1: Dogs are living beings & like us can only take so much. Some have much more patience than others & will put up with more, but like people they ALL have a breaking point.

#2: If I had a dime for every time someone said "My dog would never hurt my child!" (& the kid gets bit) or after the bite "He's never done that before" or "we never saw it coming" I'd be a flipping billionaire.

#3: Even if he DOES have a rock solid temperament & has the patience of Job, no good dog deserves to be abused & or harassed.

Come on people. Take some responsibility for your kids & your animals!

And yes, the picture is cute. But please let it be the first & last of this type. No one should allow this; for the kid's sake, for the dog's sake & for the breed's sake. Don't set your dog up to fail.

    Blessings ...

Well, he wasn't exactly "biting" my dogs ear. If you look closely you'll see my son's mouth is open. and he does NOT do this on a regular basis. My son knows the boundaries with my dogs, and minds them very well. He doen't pull tails, fur, ears or any other apendage for that matter. This was just a cute set up to make a few laughs. My dogs live a great, happy, healthy and aggrovation "free" life. But thanks, and i could see where you would see your point of view.

    Thanks for being so understanding.

From my angle it doesn't appear like his mouth is open. It doesn't look like he is chomping down on the ear, but it does look like he is biting it. Maybe it's just my eyes.

It sounds like you have things going on well then. But I am curious that in one post you say "My poor dogs have had pure hell today, thanks to my son." then you say they live an aggravation-free life. Those two statements seem to be at odds with one another.

Nevertheless, I suppose it doesn't matter, so long as the child & the dog are safe. It was a cute picture, but I always fear for the child & the dog & our breed as a whole when I see a pic like that.

    Blessings ...

Thank you for clearing that up. We just had a child bitten by 2 supposed "pit bulls" in my hometown & my mother is all over me about it. She even had the gall to say to me "why can't you own something LESS DANGEROUS?" Ugh. And you hear of so many child bites these days, it just scares me.

Well, best of luck to you & yours, & thank you once again for your kindness & understanding!! ;)

    Blessings ...

glad someone said it, not that i dont doubt the dog will tolerate it or not. but kids need to know how to behave around dogs. thats not it lol

excuse me while i go kick my dog in the ribs!

I always like to believe a PB is the best with kids and or abuse but out of the multi 1000s of PBs out there your gona have a loose cannon sooner or later how could you not.

pit#5: APBTs are most certainly wonderful around kids, better than most breeds I'd hazard to say. BUT ... they are still dogs & even the best of dog has a bad day.

catchdog: That dog looks to me anyway like he's saying "PLease get this child off of me!" lol. But there is definitely no aggression whatsoever.

However as far as a "controlled" environment I would have to disagree. Even with a parent in the room, a dog can bite & inflict serious injury far faster than a parent can move to prevent it. Just check out the thread on this board called "people biting pit bulls." Than man was in the room when his daughter was bitten by his pit bull, yet he could not stop it.

cutt: You are right - those Lonzo dogs are crazy, foaming at the mouth, dangerous time bombs who will kid a kid (or even an adult!) alive with a spork & a dull butterknife!! Humans beware!! That's why mine was able to earn his CGC. lol, thanks for the laugh friend! It helped get my day off on a good start! :p

    Blessings ... :)
