"Fur parent mentality" is what's fuckin up dogs regardless of breed. Let a damn dog be a dog and quit the bullshit.

Don't step on your dick yet. This is a public fucking board that you asked a pretty simple and basic question on. Ya think you would be gracious enough to say thanks to all comers. But you are out here calling ppl tree huggers. You are the one that enlisted the help, no one else asked. I certainly do not have these issues LOL. But I will tell you this, i will not be as app to say anything the next time you ask a dumb ass question.

Fucking appologize and don't be a dick!

Apologize to who.........YOU?!?! No thanks. I gave thanks where it was due. I don't owe any apologies to anyone. I got my answer and was good with that until some people got all sentimental and took things the wrong way. People shouldn't be so sensitive......including you.

I know it was would happy to apologize had there been a different approach to it. And the whole grabbing the scruff method is good in most circumstances but not this time. I'm telling I've never seen a bitch this defiant. I do appreciate all opinions and advice and only made the tree bugger statement because it was upsetting where this thread went. People talking about ban me and this site has gone down hill and all....... gee whiz. Nobody is seriously going to ghetto stomp a 7 week old pup, it was exagerated humor and some people are just way too sensitive. Simms, I wasn't referring to you butt definitely those who think people need their butt kicked and all that crap. If that makes me a prick I can live with it.

It doesn't matter. I know he wasn't talking bad about me specificly.

here, I am a prick and I'll put it out there so you can see exactly who I was talking to. These two get no apologies and yes..... Tree huggers seems to fit just fine. So I'm sorry if you thought I was talking to you. Now, since you know how much of a prick I am, you must also know that that hurt and was very hard to do. :)

I know you weren't talking about me. sometimes you have to step beyond the discussion so you can get the info you need. Some thing's should not be made public info. It is easy to get caught up in the online deal (addicting). It does suck where this thread went.IMO it should have been cleaned up a couple days ago and closed. Bottom line No one advocates for anything that can remotely considerd abusive, esp if it could be linked to you. The best advice I am going to give you and young family is this a public board! I appologize for calling you a dick.

I hand feed if food aggression occurs.

Had been hand feeding and playing with the food but I must say the turning point came with a wrap on the nose. I just wanted to reaffirm that it was ok, I shouldn't have even asked, it worked every other time. But like I said, this one is special. She's not in the least bit timid or afraid of anything.

Just out of curiosity.... when was the pup separated from the dam? How many litter mates were there? I have never had a 7 wk old that acted that way but I keep the pups with the dam until 7 wks or older.
I play with the food while they are eating and no body has ever minded.
My husband has one on the yard that is a little growly but not snappy because he slapped the pee out of it the first time. It was grown at the time.
A sharp rap on the nose is acceptable for biting with a puppy but that is far from a beating.

Puppy was separated at 5 1/2 weeks old. There were 12 in the litter so that would explain a lot of it. She's mellowed out toward my wife a lot but that's the only area she has calmed down in. As far as being hand shy, this has not developed at all from a couple swats but her behavior is much better.

That's because the behavior calms BEFORE the hand shyness sets in... now if y'all keep doing it then the behavior will keep swinging until it goes from bad to good to hand shy and aggressive. Everything in moderation makes for a good dog. At least from the little that I know.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. So far I think she's got the point and she's been using the scruff method lately cause since she thumped the pup (twice I think) there hasn't been anymore instances like what was going on.

lol my dog used to do this when he was a pup just correct them from early on i gave my dog a good tap on the muzzle n took his bowl from him waited for a few min an continued the cycle everyday every feed time till he stop growling and biting hope this helped nothing wrong with being firm with a dog to nice and youll have a huge mess on ur hands one day especially with a dog showing aggression from that age worst case is it could attack a child one day
