sometimes cowhides can be difficult to source, so we have always been on the lookout for an additional rugged target for springpole work. well, we found it!.

    quality is second to none.
Kearney has had about 12 hours on his and its holding up splendidly.
i didnt even have to bait it-he hit it naturally in his usual spot ( if your dog is not interested in it, it was suggested to smear a bit of bacon grease or the like on there to garner interest)

i will try to get some video of him on it this weekend.

yes, but the hose is actually doubled up ( hose inside another hose) and stuffed. even if it only lasts a month or two- im ahead of the game, as hides rarely last a week

I wish mine would go for those. They certainly are tough. I looked at them at the GA ADBA show.

But if it doesn't look/smell like an animal, he's not interested. He likes to think he's chasing and killing something. I wonder if I put some squirrel scent on it, if he'd go for it?

with some of the bigger tugs you can open and stuff yourself. could try putting a few strips of hide inside of it.

good idea, thanks! I wonder if i could somehow wrap a hide around it as well? Hrmmm... I guess I just need to play around with it and see what works... thanks again for the suggestion

Depends on the dog and material. What I'm using on flirt pole has lasted over 3 years. Springpole average's out to 4-6 month's I guess. I use them as old jeans are easy to get.

What I also use when I can get then are lifting strap's that are used to move material's by crane's.

Well, few years ago i bought some cow hide and my dog Tete didnt like it.. i dunno if it was of the smell or the fur he got on his mouth on every bite but i been using something like the one posted and my dog liked it, no teeth or gums were damaged and the thing lasted long, i consider my dog a good/hard mouth dog so i always recommend it.

    Here is a video:
