To whom it may concern, I use to get offended when certain folks scream about the Colby line. Such as the Redboy /Jeep cross. That wasn't a cross. Heavy Colby on both sides of those world class Bulldog's and producers... Today I just lol and say to my self. Those who know, know...

It goes on to say that JP Colby was Welsh. Yet growing up around lots of Irish, many books gave misinformation concerning his special love for
Irish bred Bulldog's . J.P. was Welsh. The pitbull thrived in England, Ireland, Wales, & Scotland .He based his line on the dogs brought from The pride of England, Ireland, & Wales to America by immigrants. In 1881, John Galvan fought his dog against Con Feeley's Jim. Longest on record ,4 hours 58 minutes both dogs were lost as either wouldn't quit. A tragic loss of 2 gamedogs as both sides called fouls. In 1878 Cockney Charlie Lloyd of England brought a pair of Bulldog's to America. Pilot and Paddy. Pilot was the best fighter, but Paddy was the gamest. We know Charlie beat Louis Krieger's Crib at 1000. a side in 1 hour 27 minutes In 1881. A big sum of money then. Colby's Tige beat Dan Rose's Captain in 3 hours 27 minutes and was named 35 lbs Champion of America. J.P. also won 500 when he entered Tige in a swimming contest against a Newfoundland dog in Boston. Tige was bred to over 40 bitches and made a huge impact on the Breed. Bill Lightner obtained a bitch hand picked best in the litter by J.P. Colby himself. Imported Rafferty was reputed to be The Best Dog in England. purchased by Jack Burke and wasn't for sale.

No one knows. Everyone has an opinion. There is a elder statesman of the game in SC who was with Mr. Beal the night he picked up a red male from Mr. Calvin Krebbs. Mr. Krebbs was an older black man in the rural south who had a yard full of game dogs and most were 'papered' from his memory. Many a dog man in that area got dogs from Mr. Krebbs and papered them as their own during that time.

If you study the pedigrees of the Jocko dogs back then and before they were Jocko dogs you will see a lot of names from the rural south. Those were the same people who went to Mr. Krebbs and got seasoned dogs. Then change a few names here and there and breed "Red Boy" to "Jocko". The paper says it is an out-cross. The first litters suggested that as they were high percentage performers. But when they made it to the brood pen they were consistently throwing high percentage bulldogs who were all similar in style and look. Almost like Red Boy and Jocko were related (hint hint)

Mr. Krebbs being a black man in those times really could not stand up and say, "He hung papers on that dog as he got him from me". Let's say times were different and he could not hind behind a keyboard.

Red Boy came from a yard that had one of the more brutal game tests I have ever heard of in all the years I have been hanging around. He rolled the dog for 30-45 minutes on one or two dogs. He then put him on the chain with zero after care. After a night's sleep he took the dog off the chain and faced him, and if he scratched he was a bulldog. He then received after care as there was no need to waste the supplies if the dog curred the next day. So when the popular white me in our dog's history stopped by they left with a dog that could walk from one end of their yard to the other and stand tall on the other side.

Our history and how we chose to write it leaves Mr. Krebbs as a relative unknown in the dog game. It is incredibly ironic that he is the creator of the most popular pit bull in the history of time, Red Boy.

    Go figure?

I'm a Mims Red Boy fan at heart. The Red Boy dogs I have now show me a direct link to the Red Boy dogs I knew as as kid in maybe, '79 or 80. Mr. Mims recognized those traits and perpetuated them for many years. Mr. Mims has 60+ years in the dogs and he is a second generation dog man.

He is originally from rural SC.

    Again, hint-hint.

I appreciate handwritten pedigree over ADBA ect. I figure if you can't trust the folks you get dogs from you probably shouldn't get from them in the first place. I paid good money for pup I just grabbed and really didn't care if had register papers or not. It did but they will just get put away and I will write the pedigree myself.

Lol it's actually the politically correct way to address non white individuals these days. Don't worry, it'll change again.

Mr Bell told me when I met him and I quote," He said Dex, I'm a good Negro. I was raised up right here in the mix of things. Orangeburg, Aiken, Wagner, Pelion S.C. I used to spend time with "Captain", Fletcher C, J. Kirby, ect. I told Mr Bell. I was raised up from a child that we are all brothers and sisters under Almighty God. The only reason I spoke of color is incase a member here on gamedog happens to remembers him. He was a Gentleman. I miss the oldtimers , Hell I'm an oldtimer now. Lol
