Native american reservations it's legal as well as they govern themselves.

I had a few before the coyotes cleaned me out. One was a 3x...

Game fowl are also the only animal that "breeds true". Saying that game birds produce game birds with the same style. Unlike with dogs where its hit and miss birds are like carbine copies of their ancestors. According to the fella who gave me mine anyway

Good thread. I got a kick out of the man fighter vid in post #17.

Re the HBO production…I was in San Juan a few years back (pre-Maria). Was outside that same bird stadium and wanted to check it out with the family. Wife would have none of it. LOL “but we’re here to experience YOUR culture,” I said.. Just as I spent hours observing bullfights in Spain as a young guy. Whatever. PR has produced some outstanding boxers, and apparently world class combat roosters.

Good stuff guys. At one point..there were some real well learned bird folk on here. I'm sure you 2 know this. Good points and info both of y'all. I like to learn about them.
As you both know. Mr. Colby saw gameness also in Pigeons. Said in book that they fly distance..sometimes injured (shot) back to their homes. Passing fields of grain..water..rest..to get back.

Life is a journey of sorts. Glad to see you chatting fellas.

He was a pigeonpig in the military. Mike Tyson talks about when he was raising pigeons and that when it's time to feed them they were literally just go to war , peck eeaothers eyes out ect. ,

This is very true. Especially when they are bred and kept by the same person. They can also be inbred to the cows come home and still perform.

In the dogs when people say I have a "private yard" it is translated to I have a private yard but the front gate opens up to cash offers. Try buying a chicken from someone in the birds for forty-fifty years. Simply does not happen. And if you do you can bet it won't be the same birds they ride up and down the road with, rest assured on that.

  12. Yeah,it's true.....about 200 years ago in England there was meant to be a strain that were brother and sister bred for a whopping 10 generations...don't now how true it is???...but legend has it it's true...I'll try and dig the name up of what type of birds they were..

Louis Colby,in his book says that by far the Game Cock is the gamest of all animals,he goes on to say if you breed 2 game dogs you may or may not get game dogs.but if you breed 2 game chickens they 'll all be game....
he also says if you take a 100 dogs only about 10 will be completely dead game.

Louis Colby was a pigeonare in the military. I misspelled it apologize. for many years I would drop them in paper bags and they lost thousands of them until he designed a way for pigeons to be dropped to deliver messages..Slim is right on about the gamecocks. performance Colby died I was going to drive up there and aget trio from him. A rooste and two hens....

In the HBO video that is the first time I have ever heard a reporter/media publicly ask the question about saving them long enough to kill them.

I am almost sure he lost his membership card to the hype-mongering club.

I will give credit tho because most media outlets would have shown that wheelbarrow full of dead chickens a thousand times.

The very people who oppose the birds sit their fat ass down at KFC and Bojangles with pleasure but these birds are kept a lot healthier and better than the birds in a slaughter house, even a brood farm, and egg producers.

"worth every penny the government spends" is another absolute load of horseshit. There are public schools in this country that have no books for kids, some school systems are struggling with even providing lunch and teachers for the most part get paid squat in comparison to what they are tasked with/what they deliver. To utter the words "worth every penny".......

My Grandfathers on both sides were into Gamecocks and one was into pigeon racing as well. About a year ago I was talking with my Grandma about pigeons I just found out my Grandfather raced them and she told me he was into fighting cocks as well. I told here that would be right up my alley and she asked me if I watch the cock fights in the city? My mom overheard what she said and told her you cant do that anymore my Grandma looked at her like she was crazy and said why not? She couldn't understand why you cant fight roosters (she is her 90s) then she went into the house to find a news paper clipping on my Grandpa's roosters from way back in the day but she couldn't find it. But she did come back outside with a photo of him posing with his best rooster the rooster was beside him on top of a saw horse. His rooster looked much smaller than the ones posted on this thread looked more like a Bantam rooster type to me. I don't know much about the birds different breeds of gamecocks perhaps?

A fella in the dogs..more so terrier type..Mr. Booth. Y'all familiar with his dogs or birds?? I think he told me some prices he sells birds for and I was astounded. over the pond has messenger birds also. I have a "cousin" in Ireland has dogs and birds. He has falconry type. He puts them in magpies and crows and such. They are stealthy hunters also. Hunt to kill.
Another cool bird. I guess them folks in texoma musta been having some good ones. I'd say about 250 or more barrells..with chickens on chain..lol well similar to dog chain spots.
