While at work last night I was doing a check that I have done a thousand times before. People tend to dump their trash there. I was driving through and noticed this dog laying there in some trash that looked fairly new, so I backed up to see if he was even alive. Here is a picture of what I found. I couldn’t pick him up because I had my work truck so I went back this morning and coaxed him a kennel and took him to the vet. They are checking him over and giving him some baths to try and help. Gonna be a long process but we’re gonna try and then see how he fits in my pack. He looks like an APBT but who knows could be a mix.

Better pics. First day home from the vet! Hoping the meds and baths every day works. I'm hoping in 2 months he'll start to look and feel better. Maybe after that I'll have another running partner. :)

I appreciate the offer! So far all that's wrong with him is the mange so it hasn't been too bad. I'm hoping we're clear on everything else and I'm done with vet bills. :). Thanks though I really appreciate it. He's up and moving today alittle, the bigger wounds are starting to scab over. His back legs are still bleeding but I hope when the swelling goes down it will stop. So far so good!

  10. Please keep us updated and seriously, let me know on the offer - I could not afford to send much but I would be more than happy to send something. I've done my fair share of taking in really messed up dogs that needed a good amount of money put in to them to get them going again, and there has always been someone nice enough to want to send a little something or help in some way. I just want to pay it forward to someone else doing something awesome for these guys! :dogtongue:

wow! lucky for him you came along! congrats and kudos to you for saving the poor fella.

also, if he is chewing and scratching a lot you can get him an Elizabethan collar and foot booties to keep him from irritating his wounds while they heal. he'll look funny wearing it, but it may help him heal up faster.

does he have scabies or demodex? just curious.

and good luck with him! i can't wait to see what he looks like after a few months of TLC! :)

Thanks everyone! Still getting better and more energetic everyday. His skin is clearing up a lot better now. Still gonna be awhile before the hair grows back. He still bleeds pretty easy so I might just try putting on those booties to keep him from scratching. I'll post more pictures soon.

Wow poor guy... well good looking out Rampage.. Good to see he will be spending the rest of his life with someone who will care for him and show him the love that these dogs deserve.

Here is a 2 week update on the boy we rescued. He’s doing a lot better and no longer has open sores, just scabs. His skin is still pretty sensitive and bleeds pretty easy. He’s a DOMINANT dog, which doesn’t go well with my two. They can play for awhile but as soon as one tries to dominate and mount the other, they have to be separated. He doesn’t listen well so I have been using a shock collar and treats to get his attention when I call him. If he’s good he gets a treat but if I call him because he’s doing something wrong, he gets a shock, seems to be working slowly but surely. He goes back to the vet next weekend and I’m hoping to get him fixed and he will calm down and fit in a little better with the other dogs.

Once he is done with his medication, you might want to try using NuStock to help the hair grow back. I've heard it really works wonders.

    Keep up the good work!
