That's what I'm looking for anybody know where I can get some... I'm building a first aide kit (a real one not a play play one) before I need it. I'm not sure how or where to go to get what I need without speculations and/or questions... also need vet care books or websites. I've ran across a few books but they were mostly general health care type books that didn't delve into any specifics. Also know that betadine is good for cleansing wounds and peroxicide will do in a pinch styptic powder is good for stopping blood... stapler, syringes, needles, read something about dental floss working for stitches I forgot what the threading needle is called though just know how its shaped... well y'all know what I'm looking for.

learn how to administer first aid first, your better off takin ur dog to the vet, you will cause more damage if you arent trained properly, dont have ur pet in a place where you will be stranded or have to pull off a macguyver stunt to survive, vet is the way

Yeah, CD, that's the thing with FIRST aide, its called that because it's aide that is given BEFORE the doctor does his thing....If a person got hit by a lawn mower blade you gonna take them pumping blood to the hospital or are you gonna first put a turniquet (sp) on em? Just need to build a good first aide kit that's all. What's considered good in some peoples' eyes is sorely lacking in others therefore I want to have a nice solid one "in case shit."

That book was highly recommended to me and is a very clear (and small). Red Cross also makes a series I think and I've heard they are good.

As far as a kit I'd start here and add accordingly: http://www.outdoorsafety.net/

Like catchdog said though it's best some of the procedures are actually shown to you, though in a real emergency any info can save a life. There's quite a few first aide websites that tell you what to do in any emergency as well.

Thanks Mags, that looks like a useful book. Web site is a good start too. A nice basic kit.
