Some of the better writing on nutrition and work for real canine athletes are from the man himself Bob Fritz. Stevens is no dogman (as he admitted in that article) with an 0-2 lifetime record and he writes stuff like that where he just uses dogs to talk about himself and what kind of shape he's in. I think I saw him in one of the recent SDJ shirtless doing yoga and talking about stretching for dogs

    RAW ADVICE
This diet is not for everyone especially those with limited time or lazy feeders. For those looking to feed RAW best advice is to get in tight with your local butcher. DO NOT buy your feed from the grocery store unless you want to pay top $. There is alot of processing/packaging time involved along with planning meals, ordering/picking up feed and supplies. This diet requires time if you have multiple dogs. Outside of that it's pretty simple and a healthier diet for your dogs.
Been feeding Prey Model Raw diet for 9 yrs nothing fancy just bone, organ and muscle. Don't use bowls, supplements, greens etc. Dogs are fed 2x day by hand. No bowl/pan clean up, no mess. All my feed is packed into 1 gal freezer bags of 5lbs - 1LB per feeding per dog. All dogs have had complete panel work ups with results at normal levels and have never felt a need to deviate from this diet.

    Feed list:
Chicken Backs, Chicken Upper Thighs, Chicken Necks, Chicken Liver, Chicken Gizzard, Pork heart, Beef Heart, Beef Liver, Beef Kidney, Ox Tail Fat.

    Winter Tip for Dehydration:
Add a gallon or 2 of warm water to your RAW feed bucket with the Feed in there. It warms the feed and also makes a broth that your dogs will lap up as long as you allow. During the winter months I do this at every feeding.

    Good luck!

For those of you that do feed Blue Buffalo or other high priced feed I recommend 4Health brand. I use the Duck and Potato blend. It's about $40 for thirty pounds, Tractor Supply is where I get it. It's a little lower in protein than BB. I slowly switched to it from BB and I can honestly say whether it seems like it's not quite as good because of what the packaging tells you all my dog's stools look much better on it. My dogs also eat some yogurt every day along with different things I supplement and occasionally they get oatmeal and grated veggies. I agree that raw is better and have seen the benefits of it but for now this works for me.

I think about three weeks, just not A solid turd! Talking to A guy who has hounds. He said there isn't A commercial feed on the market that will compete with this feed store! He's been raising hounds for over 50 yrs. and picked it up from his father and uncle. I tried that for A month feeding less food and there coats shine like A diamond in A goats ass! I still have 15 bags of Blue Wilderness A lady that has A couple of pets are go'n to buy it from me the end of the month. I got A great deal on the feed store blend, I have three trash cans of it now! The extra two I sealed air tight! Like to get someone in my area to split A poney with me everytime I ask they give me A weird look and shake there heads!!

Diamond has at least 1 recall a year for dead dogs, blue buffalo is high priced diamond(which is over priced assholes and lips), totw was made by the same company as diamond, when I had only 2 I spent the extra on orijen and it was hands down the absolute best kibble. Way too expensive but the whopper mutt never looked better, had small shits and loved all the flavors we tried.

V, I like Victor. I was feeding prey model raw and switched to Victor about 3/4 months ago and like it. Dogs look and act great. I was feeding the guard dog Victor when I had her and same results. I like it.
