[IMG]There was an understandable outcry in 2009 when, following Vick’s release from prison on convictions related to dogfighting, he signed with the Philadelphia Eagles. There was considerable concern when the Humane Society of the United States agreed to partner with Vick and rehab his public image. And there was even more consternation when Humane Society of the United CEO Wayne Pacelle told the press in 2010—after HSUS received $50,000 from the Eagles—that Vick “would do a good job as a pet owner.”

Did Wayne Pacelle just endorse Michael Vick yet again?

The New York Post reports that Jets fans are upset following the team’s decision to sign Michael Vick last week. But the Jets had sought out Pacelle before signing Vick:

A Jets spokesman said the team “performed its due diligence” prior to signing Vick, noting that team president Neil Glat called Wayne Pacelle, president and CEO of the Humane Society, before a decision was made.

Sounds to us like Pacelle once again gave an endorsement of Vick. But how has the Michael Vick Apology Tour, sponsored by HSUS, turned out for animals?

According to the Pennsylvania SPCA, dogfighting investigations in Philadelphia went up after Vick signed with the Eagles. In 2008, there were 245 investigations, and in 2009, there were 903. The director of law enforcement for the Pennsylvania SPCA stated that there had been an increase in actual dogfighting, not just reports. In 2012, PSPCA had over 1,000 dogfighting investigations, and the group said last year that dogfighting cases had doubled since 2008-09.

Does Wayne Pacelle feel any remorse for this failed record? Perhaps not, since HSUS got a $50,000 grant and Pacelle is now apparently the go-to guy for people looking for a reference for Vick. Maybe Pacelle’s admission that “I don’t love animals or think they are cute” should include an addition: “But I do love money.”

Jets fans who love animals may not have to put up with Vick for too long. The Jets don’t have the greatest record of picking quarterbacks, and Vick may butt-fumble his way out of town sooner than later. But the situation is still troubling.

The Post asked of Michael Vick, “Who let the dog in?” Maybe that’s what HSUS members should ask about the HSUS board’s decision to keep Wayne Pacelle on as CEO.

This is sickening. Who the fuck cares!
Dog fighting in philly didnt increase because mike vick played ball there, that's just adsurd to even lean towards a connection like that. They aren't ever going to just let that man live his life. He paid his dues and then some for what he was convicted of. AR nuts are way bigger fuckin scumbags than vick ever been. I dont even like him as a qb but to still have to hear his name constantly still after how many years that shit been done and over with is appauling. People need to get a damn life and mind their own damn buisness. SMDH...

I think it's just really more about HSUS bashing than Vick. The HSUS had no business endorsing Vick.

I understand that but the article is also trying to imply that dog fighting in philly has gone up since him being their QB which is totally retarded. Why does vick need any endorsing at all, he is an established qb. Mike sure has become the HSUS's lil bitch. My real point was these AR nuts are insane. That shit happened years ago now, he went to jail for 2 years for it and lost over 120 million in salary and endorsments due to his involvment yet these nut jobs are so effin batty that they still trying to smear him any chance they get.

Actually, he didn't go to prison for dog fighting. He went there for federal racketeering. He served 23 months, was released after 18 to serve the remainder under house arrest.

He received a suspended 3 year sentence for the dogfighting charges in exchange for pleading guilty, thereby having all other charges dropped. He never served a day in prison for the state charges!

The bottom line is this - When you make a conscious decision to torture another living creature simply for your own amusement, you have crossed a line that can never be uncrossed. And when you make the conscious decision to execute by means most foul those creatures who failed to properly amuse you while you were torturing them, for my money, you have lost your seat at the banquet that is America's celebrity bounty.

He did his time. I don't care if he killed a hundred dogs for pleasure. He's served his sentence, get over it.

Whatever keeps the american public distracted from the real issues I suppose. Regardless of what he actually did the time for is really not important. Thats how ALL cases go, they charge you with a bunch of different charges then will deal the ones less likey to stick in court away while using the ones that will stick as leverage against you. The process was complete and satisfied the courts therefore he served his sentence and was released for his roll that he was charged with in the crime. They knew they had a better chance with the other charges is all that is. Semantics really. Happens all the time. Doesnt change the fact he served his time. I realize they are famous so it will never go away, doesnt make it right though....

What he did the time for is important if you are saying he did his time for dog fighting. 'Cause that ain't the case. He did no time for that. He did time for illegal gambling. Big difference. Especially when stat law called for big time for his offenses.

I don't really give a shit. I just get annoyed by the idiots who THINK they KNOW he did time for dog fighting....when it ain't so. Damnit.

Go back in time. About the same time MV was on the front page of every paper in America for "racketeering" there was another case in Florida that involved a pro football player. He got liquored up, refused a free ride, refused a cab offer and then proceeded to drive and kill another human being.

Wanna guess how much time he got? MV did about 10-12 times more for "racketeering".

He served his sentence. He did his time. That should pretty much be the end of it. But it will never be over for him. It will always be that way when his name is mentioned.

Another analogy. There is an old guy who sells homemade sausage from his farm. Been doing so for fifty years. Law enforcement with rep's from the USDA swarmed him like a SWAT team. Shut him down, hung him with some serious fines and threatened him with fines and time if he sells again. The kicker is they rode by two known crack houses to get to his farm. I just think a lot of priorities are upside down.

Mostly I think white America loves it when they can make a Black person the face of any type of crime.Plus hes famous.20 years from now no matter how many others get caught fighting dogs they'll always mention him.like he started this shit or something.Deny if you want but its mostly a race issue. My money says if Vick was white this would have been long forgotten.

All I can remember is that all his dogs or all dog d on the property found new homes. If I'm not mistaken. I believe a fighting dog could not pass the aggression test to be adopted. I believe it was all bullshit.
