Colby carpetmill v RP. Help out a potential buyer

Anyone had any recent dealings with the millmaker from the
Philippines ? All previous orders that were meant to be
    honoured, have they ?

I'm stuck in between two carpet mill builders here. One is
Colbys noiseless mill and the other, RP. From the outside the
Choice seems easy, Colby, with a pedigree and heritage in
Making carpet mills that stretch back many decades. The issue
With colby is the shipping, he does not ship overseas. UPS have
Come through with a great price, but I'm worried about
the mill being damaged in transit as its made of wood.

RP on the other hand seems quick, and has shippers at the ready
With a good price all round. But how good is his carpet mill ?
Is it structurally sound, does it run well, how noisy is it ? I like
Workin my dogs early bells, like 5 am, would it be too loud?

Any opinions are appreciated. Cheers !

personaly i think i would go with the colby mill. If you look around a bit- maybe search for posts in this message board-- you will see the rp millmakers rep is not that good. I have read quite a few posts complaining about mills not delivered or takeing a very long time to be delivered- dan

  3. Google RP there is enough people with things to say about him. I have seen one of his slatmills and the quality was pisspoor, it never turned nowhere as freely as shown on youtube and the slats had masking tape on them, you get what you pay for at the end of the day so if I was buying a carpet mill it would be Colby all day long for me

Carpetmill only. When it comes to slat, there r only two I'd consider, dogtrotter or a jw, both
Of these imo are a sight to behold, pure craftmanship.

A pointer for those looking to ship a mill this side of the atlantic. Give UPS a
Shout, all can be arranged online via their 'cost and transit times' tool. They
Can collect your mill from any address, and deliver direct to your door.

You can add optional extras, such as customs clearance, packaging (or crating)
Home delivery, although for door to door rather than airport, ur looking at an
    Extra 200 dollars.

From the states to uk airport, 550 dollars. That's an AWESOME price considering
    DHL wanted two grand.

Those carpet mills are pretty strong .Don't think there would be a problem with the shipping.
