Co existing in a house

Discussion in 'Dog Discussion' started by Lee stubblefield, Nov 25, 2022.

  1. What’s up guys…anybody ever have any luck with dogs co existing inside the same house.I have a bigger house I have a 7 year old ceaser bred female that runs small probaly 30 lbs..she dosent like other dogs obviously but had plans on getting a frenchie to help a buddy who has a program he has running…just curious if anybody else ever had luck on keeping dogs in same house but no contact as far as having sections blocked and secure so there’s no accidents.my ceaser bred dog is a house dog always has been.but from time to time she gets yard time as far as on a spot outside when weathers cool..what do you guys think?to big of a risk to even try?

It is possible. Biggest thing I would say is making sure everyone involved understands that they should be kept away from each other. Besides that making sure there is a designated area that they are to be before the other is brought out is a good start. We had different dogs in the house with other dogs. Always separated by each others kennels(if one is out the other is in and sometimes in seperate rooms to avoid the rukus). Unless the dog is bat shit crazy and destroys the metal kennels you should be good. Personally I wouldn't trust just leaving them in seperate rooms, keep them crated.

I do it everyday for the last 25 years. I always have 2 adult dogs in my home. Currently 3 and a pup. Like Michelle said, crate and rotate. I usually leave one loose in my bedroom and the another has run of the house. They rotate positions between that and crates throughout the day.

Very possible to keep 2 dogs in the same house and they never have contact with eachother. Lot of people do it.

I should add I have metal gates on my bedroom doorway along with a closed door. Like a double barrier just in case one decides to chew a door.

An offense that will make one a outside dog real fast lol.

Likewise I have 3 in the house crates and gates and different areas of the house for each...can get hectic but it's do able.....just like @AGK said have to have everybody on board with keeping them separate at all times..2 slip and it could be Catastrophic

    Only takes 1 slip.

Did the crate and rotate thing it wasn't for me. We chain and rotate lol. Some on chains, some in above grounds around the house. Pups in a 10x10 in the garage and the occasion home invader denting the couch cushion. Shit can go sideways inside, outside, crate, kennel, chains, whatever. Diligence is always the first step in stopping an accident.

How much one them frenchies running? I've been thinking about getting one but can't spend more on a genetic mess than ppl are asking for ch dogs lol. I do like them though and would scoop one up if the price is decent

  10. Thanks for the support and info guys and man you can get them on the low end for 2500 to 3 with breeding rights….I’ve been around pants my whole life…this the only dog I kinda like outside of these dogs id take one of these frenchies over a American bully any day…when I ran into a old buddy and he told me he almost touched 6 figures just with frenchies my mind shifted

My buddy at work has bullies. It's always funny when we try to "talk dogs". He keeps pushing me to get a pair I keep telling him I'm not wasting feed on them ugly toad looking mofos lol.

They can certainly make a mint for you. Just not my type of dogs and the majority who own them are clowns(not directed at you sleep).

  16. Might be a stupid question but what kind of setup do you have for that? I’ve been wanting to add a 2nd barrier to the bedroom door but wasn’t sure the best route.

  19. That looks perfect.
I’ve gotten my 2 males to where while out walking they can walk 5 feet from each other and pretty much ignore each other and stay focused on the walk. The wife walks one I walk the other.
In the house we separate and rotate and it’s worked well so far but that extra barrier would be nice.
My most intense dog is also my most obedient one. I got him as a puppy and worked hard with him so it’s made things a lot easier. If we are walking in the neighborhood and an aggressive male comes at him, all bets are off but normal day to day he’s been the most obedient dog I’ve ever had.
He will sit, stay, come, lay down etc. and that makes it much easier for the wife too. It’s like he knows he’s king of the hill and doesn’t have to prove it.

I've done it but there was always an accident or 2 they would just get an itch and shit would just happen . They were male/female . .but in the end it's not worth the trouble.. feeding in separate areas .could never leave them alone . 80% of the time they were fine the rest. not so much
