Changed a couple peoples out look

Discussion in 'Pit Bull News' started by B_And_Bubba, Feb 25, 2006.

  1. While I know this isn't the biggest bit of positive press, any little bit helps. I was at the pet store earlier today and was getting some treats, and a couple of toys for the dogs. ( Bubba my 18 month old APBT, Cooper, and Adrian were both from the Boxer Rescue Foundation, and Bear the 23 pound Shitzu that my step sister saved from her crazy neighbor) Anyways. While I was in the store this guy had his daughters with him. WHen I was walking passed him he grabbed his gilrs, and pulled them as far away as he could. But before he could grab his youngest still in diapers she was face to face with my APBT. And as he started yelling at her Bubba sat down gae her a hand shake, and kissed her on the tip of the nose. She just giggled and started petting him. Her dad came over and let the rest of the girls pet him too. HE told me he had always viewed APBT as horrible evil dogs. BUt he saw how nice they could be now. There were a few others in the store who saw this too. SO I had changed about three or four peoples minds that all bully breeds are attack dogs. Here in AZ anytime there is a dog attack the media blows it up saying there are viscious "pit bulls" everywhere. SO I figure any good press for them will help. Sorry to take so much of your time. BUt irf we can all get out just a little bit about how great these dogs are then we can hopefully stop BSL everywhere.

If it won't come from the media, we have to be the ones to let everyone know, how well these dogs really can be. Good work!

That's funnt because I come across people who have a negative view on bully breeds daily because I go to the parks, local pet store, nature trails and anywhere else dogs are allowed. So many people see me with her and immediately step far away. Then I tell her to sit and stay while I ask the person or persons why they are so quick to turn. I just love to let people get a view of how calm and obedient this breed can be. Anyway not ot get so much into details. I just wanted everyone to understand that in the very same way as Band Bubba I try to change peoples mind. Gotta go now!

The greatest changes made are those that are done one small step at a time. When you change one persons mind, they again can say something to a friend or two and so on. Kudos to you for starting the cycle of acceptance for a few more people.

Way to go! I had the same experience in our park. My husband brought Mikey to see me at work and a man steered his little girl away. We had Mikey to sit and give a big grin and the man allowed the little girl to approach. Kisses were soon exchanged and all was well. I explained the worst thing about Mike was the tail whipping we might get. The guy said he was impressed and might change his mind afterall.
