I was curious to know how often people lubricate their carpet mills? Searched and couldn't find anything on the topic....

I just do it as needed , white lithium on the roller bearings and silicone spray on the running table keeps it smooth

it all depends on the bearings in the rollers really. Mine are a seal deal, dont do anything to them.
running board is treated with silicone spray when needed.... all depends on use, some guys have 5 dogs that run the mill several times a week, others have one dog ect.....
There is no right answer to your question other then "When Needed"

I was wondering what was the best lubricant was for the bearings and ended up reading threads on a skaters forum. Lots of opinions just like everything else. Grease and any petroleum products eventually breakdown and gum up slowing things down. Even on the sealed bearings that have grease in them, they wash them and then use 0W 100% synthetic oil ($9/qt) or a special Nanolube at $40-$50 -1/2 oz. Lol yeah I'm using synthetic oil. Thats on a slatmill though.

I really think you guys are taking this a bit too NASA....
Proper sealed roller bearings will last you several dogs.... these bearings are not under any heavy loads or speeds they just spin really
Roller bearings are used all over on cars including wheel bearings where they carry alot more load and a pertty rough envornment as well for several thousand miles.
A mill sitting in a shed og garage being run by a few dogs everyday will last for every. The more they are used the better it will run.

As stated on this forum before.... " remember its the dog that spinns the mill not the other way around".

One more thing.... bearing grease is for bearings and probably the best way to go the guys who just want a good running mill.
Thin oils will work well by will need contiuous maintainance and is the way to go for the guys how like to fiddel with things.
