carpet mill (home-made)

Well after a lot of trial and error, we finally got it finished! Spent maybe $100 on materials, but I am thinking less than that. If we hadn't screwed up so many times, it would have been a lot cheaper. But the mill works!!

The video is of my 15 month old dog running the mill, and although it's 90% complete here we mainly used my dog to expose it's weaknesses. We realized we needed a lot more bracing, as you can see added in the pictures as the finished product. We also put up our panels and we are still tinkering with the carpet belt. Our thread and glue idea didn't hold up very good.

We are planing on saleing the plans on how to make it soon it's going to be step by step and alot of photos

 

good work, especially for the time frame. the second one will be even better

 

be carefull of the carpet sliding I"ve seen some bad accidents happen that way

 

Thanks gamebread, since the carpet kind of fell apart anyway because of the weak fusing we did, I'm going to tighten it up quite a bit to prevent that.

 

What did you have in mind to keep the carpet weaving from one side to the other? Not bad for the first one, I am sure with a little more time, and experience you will hav it down

Use a rubber belt instead, it will still turn the same and shouldn't ware down as fast as the carpet belt. You will still achieve the same results, that's what I did anyway, when I built mine. JMO

 

Mind sharing where you purchased a rubber belt? Sounds interesting. We are open to suggestions, especially since this was the first mill so I'm probably gonna sell it anyway.

I fail to see any huge similarities? All carpet mills have pretty much the same design, and considering we didn't even use GCM as a guide, I'm sure we'll run into no problems lol

 

I took the rubber belt off a manual human treadmill and put it onto my carpet mill. I've had for 3 yrs now and I use it regularly. No issues what so ever.

pure pits looks different yours looks like a gcm/revolution hybrid watch out is right if people have patends on designs and you try to start selling them.you know what I'm sayin.
