People like seeing dogs working. Plus you do wonder if it pans out like it does in your head. I wonder... is a wolverine a worthy opponent for a real bulldog?

A wolverine will eventually run off if a bulldog can stay at him long enough. By that, I mean live long enough to do so. Wolverines are nothing to fuck with. Even if a bulldog runs one off, it is likely to not make it long afterward.

Thanks for the insight on what is going on with some of these breeds that we are not very familiar with here in the states.

The main fighting dog in Pakistan is the Bully Kutta which is a huge mastiff type dog. From what I have seen when a good example is matched outside their breed they generally do very well. Obviously it is completely stupid to match an apbt into a dog weighing over twice as much, but BKs are routinely matched against other mastiffs, especially in the area around the border with Afghanistan. BKs have also been matched against Kangals and Tosa Inu. Pakistani BK match rules are similar to Japanese Tosa match rules.

I had a tape some years ago, it showed some matches in Saudi Arabia or something similar to the video on here, the only difference was they brought a huge tanker filled with water to wash the dogs. Near the end of the tape it showed a young guy in blue jeans and a jean jacket with an APBT sitting under a tree, he matched his dog 50lbs or so into one of those huge dogs and his dog crushed the other dog, hit it like a freight train and was a blur on the head and chest, they were yelling to stop it quick fast, the big dog never knew what happened. On a side note, the Taliban stopped the heroin trade but could not stop the dog fights lol

Some big catch weight game bred bulldogs can do it and I have seen it. Depends on the individual dogs. Sometimes the apbt is better sometimes the other dog is. As for the Taliban, dog matches still continued during their control, but on a much smaller scale. It is hard to conceal a match when the dogs in question are so massive. The Taliban tried to stop the matching of dogs because they said it was against Islam and the gambling that took place is also against Islam, but so many of the things they did were against Islam. As soon as they were removed from power dog fighting moved back into the open.

Once i heard of the bet that was made between some hunter's & Norman Hooten. From what was told [by a very decent dog man at that] there was some very big money put on this at the time. The hunter's had caught a wolverine & had it caught in a barrel, & they bet N. Hooten that his Butcher Boy couldn't fish it out of the barrel in a certain amount of time. There was a lot of money bet on this. N. Hooten made a lot of money that day as the story goes, because not only did he fish it out of the barrel in time, but he killed the wolverine as well. Unless the dog is a cur, there's no damage that will stop a dog of Hooten's Butcher Boy's caliber from doing what he's been bred to do. The wolverine sure had never seen anything like Butcher Boy before

Taliban areas are actually known for their Gull Terrs as in these provinces the Gull Terr is the premier fighting dog. Areas such as Kohat, Bannu and Afghanistan border areas, breed and test the best examples. Many Taliban use these dogs as ferocious guard dogs.

I am very...very familiar with Afghanistan and it's border area, also very familiar with the Taliban. I have NEVER seen a Gull Terr or Bully Kutta. I did see large longer haired breeds of some sort. As for being used as guard dogd...to be honest I have no idea, I do know the Taliban are very mobile and never in said place for long...how easy it would have been had they been held up somewhere with their Gull Terr guards ;)
