It's been a little over a year since moving to the woods and it has been a mind opening experience. My only regret is not moving sooner!

I may not have the finances I did when I was in the city but life is much more enjoyable out here, even with less income. I figured I would move out here but travel to the city often but the truth is I rarely go to the city at all.

There has been many new experiences for me since moving out here and here's some pics of a few.

I had never rode or owned a riding mower or tractor but we have one rider and two tractors so far

I cleared out some brush and built a bridge out of trees over our (usually dry) creek. I made it just wide enough to get the quad over.

The rest of our birds that I had posted in a earlier thread have either been killed or ran away so we have a newer small flock. So far 3 hens and 1 rooster and the hens are laying good eggs regularly.

And last but certainly not least, a few pics of the dogs today.

You got that right, my friend. I wouldn't move back to the city unless I had to, and I probably still wouldn't lol.
Thank you. Yesir, the dogs get more eggs than we do lol.

Fresh farm eggs keep way longer than store bought.

Glad you are enjoying it. Life in the sticks can be real nice. U may pay a dollar or 2 more at the store but it is cheaper and way less hassle than going to town. One things for sure if u see someone coming down the road u know pretty fast if they are friend or Fo. If u know who it is by the vehicle they are friends if not they are Fo and have no Buisiness beyond the road.

Thank you, shotgun. lol You're so right on that, man, we surely know who is welcome and who is not very quickly haha. And I agree I'd rather pay a couple dollars more and not have to deal with the city problems anymore. The people are so much more friendly and helpful out here. I love it.

OG, just because you have confidence issues doesn't mean I do too lol. It's a 1994 that has faded a bit, oh well.
Thank you, my friend, AGK. I appreciate the kind words, here and over there too! You know you're welcome anytime you happen to make it this far south.

Lol they built a dollar General about four miles away from me and a gas station and restaurant about four miles away in the other direction, I'm starting to feel like a city boy again! Hard to balance being close enough to not spend hours driving to and from work with being far enough away from.civilization

Do you find that it's easier or harder to work the dogs as opposed to living in the city? I ask because I would assume there's always something that has to be done at the homestead vs. the city domicile.

Btw... everything looks great including the dogs.

The country life is the way to go IMO, moved to the city last year and instantly regretted it. Soon as I can sort myself out I'm getting back out bush

Thanks a lot, frogs. The dogs definitely have more opportunities to be active. The wildlife like squirrls, rabbits etc give them plenty of exercise while they're on the chain because they're always barking and trying to get them. In the city I didn't have room to let the dogs run free off of the chain but I do here so almost once a day I take them off one at a time and they get to run around. Also, I used to have to take them to the woods somewhere to walk on walking trails but now I just leash them up and walk our trails on the property. In general, it's easy and much better, not only for me but for them also.

Thank you, Jsullivan. You and me both, my friend lol.
Thanks a lot, edgar86, they are very happy in the woods. They chase squirrels all day long lol. A lot of trees with nuts so you know that means squirrel chasing all day long.

  20. lol man idk if i could do it, i guess there really isn't any "country" here in the midwest but living outside of the major towns is something that has been appealing to me on and off, then i always think about if a big storm or tornadoe hits and am stranded , then i think how good it would be to be away from all the noise and have my own acreage
