    Poisoned Big Dog

    She is in Hampton, VA

Her new owners said she is just too much dog for them, that they love her to death and are trying, but they can't. For some reason, recently being with them, she's taken to chewing up the house and going inside no matter how often they take her out.

They are going to bring her back to me and I cannot take her again - now I have nowhere to keep her. I cannot stand to think I might have to put her down.

She was great with me, I don't understand why she's started acting like a little monster with these people.

Anyone who can give her even a temp home... ?

How long has she been with them? When I got my rescue it was an adjusting period. She even chewed an ipod up, but after a few weeks and a solid schedule etc. she calmed down and adjusted. When we moved she did similar things, for a few weeks til she learned everything was going to be ok. rarely things happen, kids toy may meet its end. lol but it is part of having a dog.

Are the people that have her experienced with dogs in general? APBTs? ......just curious if they crate or not when gone from home and free feed/water.

I wish I could help you out but not able to in my current situation. I wish you and Roxy good luck. She is a pretty girl and sounds like a good dog.

They've had her for a month now.. They crate at night and when they're gone. She was great at first with them, no accidents or chewing - which is what makes me think it's not HER, it's something they're doing. Be it lack of exercise or mental stimulation, I don't know... They said they did, and that they had been researching and looking into an APBT. They understood the animal problems and stubbornness, but they said they just can't keep her, it's too much I suppose with their 2yo.

That sucks! I didn't mean to pry, but it did sound like it was something they were doing or regreting and they were just giving the "oh this is too much " BS. She might be better off outa there. Funny comment about the 2yo, a load of crap and I will leave it at that. lol Guess some people just are not animal people. Sad part is that a decent dog has to pay for it.

And she absolutely cannot come here... So I am working on getting her into the Norfolk SPCA. They are no-kill, their adoption coordinator has a lot of pit bull experience, and they actually train with the dogs and work with some to get a CGC.. It's that or put her down.

I'm pretty upset that a month I could have used to find her a permanent home or foster went down the drain, though.

I have never shipped a dog... if you could arrange transport within a couple of days, that could work. But I'm not comfortable putting her on a plane, I don't have an airline approved crate, I don't know if her new owners have her UTD on everything... if she got out somehow she'd be gone.. If I could find someone, or several people, willing to transport her that would work, but finding people willing to do that who are trustworthy is pretty hard.

Hell of a guy. If you drive down that way to get her you can swing through and pick me up... Ill ride w ya. - - -lol---
there are members on here that do the transport thing ---I am sure of it. I just got a year old pup back from a young couple who "had to have" him....very similar...The boy is a beaut and a breeze. It is likely lack of planning, lack research of their new dog, or time itself, if nobody added that.

She's fixed, yes.. But I don't know if she even has another couple days here. The lady said she wanted her gone 'yesterday'. And I haven't heard from her since, so for all I know she got rid of her or something.

The dog is not with me... She was adopted and her adopter is trying to get rid of her. and she hasn't emailed me back.

    It's really frustrating right now.

I know your pain, along with many others. This is how you tell the real from the fake.
