maybe i'm bringing a bucket of sand to the beach but i'm looking for is a lurcher that can withstand real cold weather (preferably broken coated) good prey, not too big and good speed to take different games. i like bull X whippet X saluki or bull x bedlington x grey but looking for something different

C i have known plenty of lads with the running dogs over the years . bedlington x whippet are fairly hardy and useful , but some of the better broken coated lurchers have been deerhound x greyhound x b/collie, once you have the right mix then you could maybe add a little bull blood. j ps Airdale x greyhound x collie sounds interesting !!

collie X airedale x grey/whippet should throw smart hunters assuming the come from working stock, wouldnt mind adding a hint of bull in there, very good choice. deerhound added may throw dogs too big for my taste but u never know until u try. theres suppose to be some good staghounds around worth a look ive been told but not much experience with them

A beddy whippet from good stock will serve you well. If you want something small. If you want something big go with a deerhound cross. Something inbetween go for beardie colliecross or bedlington grey. Aslong as its from good parents that do the job you want to do with yours.

a nice 7/16 grey 5/16 border collie 4/16 stag should make a nice lurcher for you if you can find one

a cross like this i'll have to do it myself from scratch. i might import some pups in the future whippet/grey/ beddy/stafford with a touch of airdale or welsh or do it myself here in the states

For rabbit - ive always been fond of whippet x working border collie and then for anything larger use some stafford blood for the bulk and for standing power.... As you first said, a nice medium sized animal with a good working coat... Just my opinion though.

The exact dog i want is beddy/whippet over a 1/4 bull 3/4 greyhound. I have the beddy/whippet dog hes doing well really knows his job now. When i move i will get the 1/4 bull bitch as a pup fetch it on then breed them. Keep the smallest dog and the biggest bitch and fetch them on for a few seasons and see if anything else needs added. Thats my plan any ways. Should give me a medium sized lurcher with plenty speed good coat and feet and a cracking prey drive. If it dont work then it dont work but heres to hoping :)

With a wheaton bull grey. Its pure pot luck to get the coat you desire but then again its the same with out. Try a strait x wheaton grey?

a lot of the rough coats and brains in a lurcher comes from b/collie blood.....There aren"t an awful lot of decent wheatens to choose from, i will ask a friend what she thinks about them . i know she has them along side other breeds ....

why not look for a small line of stag or put a good single yote stag over a working whippet? if i was on your side i would just get the stag but depends on your ground you hunt
