yes I use them post work out I think it works to avoid catabolism,I also use creatine with water after a hard workout. The dog's seem to burn fat and not lose muscle.

What would be an appropriate dosage?

I've been giving 1 of the Amino 1500 pills and about 75 mg of l-cartinine post work-out. My vet said to be careful with higher doses of cartinine because it can cause an upset stomach, but I've haven't noticed any ill-effects. I generally give these right after the work out, mixed into a bit of water and squirted down his throat. Then I feed about 30-45 minutes after wards, or whenever he has cooled down completely.

Amino's should be given pre, during and post workout. Carnitine works well combined with a good quality fish oil.

L Carnatine will make your dog retain a blanket of water around its body causing it to overheat more rapidly...

give it after a workout ... helps with anabolic state....preserve muscle just another supp in keeping hard earned muscle if you are working the dog out hard.... Directly in the morning also upon awakening is also benificial as the body is in a catabolic state.

Could you please elaborate? It's supposed to help burn the extra-fat. Im asking because i been giving my dogs a supplement based on Omega 3 (EPA and DHA), L-Carnitine, Coenzyme Q10 and Taurine.

My dogs went kinda dry on the show and i was giving them this supplement until the last day.

humans use supplements that retain water. for dogs that is bad bc water causes them to overheat faster. you can use basic principles but dogs and humans have differences

The supplement i used is for dogs, not for humans. Google Cardiomega gel if you want.

Think about it GSDBulldog. Do you think the people who actually understand dogs are going to give you the answer to your question? Why would they help out there competition in the show ring? I hope you take these answers with a grain of salt.

Latest study shows that animals, mice and stuff I mean, supplemented with BCAA (leucine, isoleucine and valine) lived significantly longer that the rest. Studies on humans will follow. Not directly relevant, but since the topic is about aminos, it could be of some use for someone that has for eg a stud dog.

just use common sense. of course it works. most products that human athletes use will transfer to dogs. just not at the same doses. use it after the work out in his feed if it is a pill crush it into a powder. if you look at rf1 or k9 super fuel you will see that they use that stuff and as far as retaining water well that would be a good thing. retaining water during the keep should be one of your goals especially in hot weather and hard work because it will help with dehydration. also glutamine is good glucosamine is good multi vitamins are good also. if you look at a high end food they have all this stuff in it but not in high amounts so supplementation is necessary during hard work

Tried that, it doesn`t work. Being the best don`t mean shit if nobody else know`s it.
