Been running 3 way cross with in the type for some time now. Reason is because of size hardness and straight bayers terriers with no sense. As for how the current flavors of the day are hard big dogs. Not many old heads are still digging in the state's and doing easier brush and bard work so harder terriers and bigger terriers are becoming the new normal. Funny to see that they bred the size down and use to prefer stiff mixers now have abandoned this because they no longer dig.

Hard dog in today's terminology means a terrier that gets the shit kicked out of them. If you are breeding small earth dogs that are hard be prepared to work on them and possibly retire them early. Most who are still using them for traditional terrier work will take a good mixer who is able to stay in the the earth for hours and stay out of trouble, and keep the game in one spot. Because at the end of the day it's all about is your terrier able to maneuver in the ground keep pressure on the game and keep them in one spot so you don't have to dig multiple holes. Traditional terrier work. The balance between smarts and dumb terriers.

More sensible is always a good thing. Especially when in the ground for hours.
